Food for thought though..Have you ever considered ditching the centrifugal and finding a good twin screw? I mean, the bottom line is, it's a truck. Your rpm range doesn't necessarily support the full potential of you having a centrigual. You even said it yourself, you don't really receive power until you hit about 2000 rpms, which sounds correct considering that's when your boost is finally strong enough to produce more power. Centrifugals run higher boost than twin screws/roots, but only at higher rpms. To put it mathematically, a centrifugal charger runs a boost curve of x^2 where x = airflow, where as a roots/screw charger runs a linear curve "x", 2x, 3x, etc. What this means is, you receive higher boost instantaneously at throttle, unlike centrifugal which delivers EXTREMELY low boost (AKA negligible) at lower rpms. The rpm ranges for our trucks don't exactly support the full effects of a centrifugal (Kind of why Ford puts roots/screws on the mustangs and lightnings, because they're lower rpms engines) IMO, it seems as though you don't have the best options for pulling the full potential out of the engine you have.

Now, I don't normally go out on a limb here and type responses like that, but I'm interested in the article since it will apply to me eventually. Of course, with my luck, I just wasted a lot of space with something you probably already know. I'm also open for corrections, if anyone sees any in my response. Hope it helps!
Hey man, long time no talk!

You have it just right, I would love to slap a whipple on it, and push out 10PSI or more all day long. I picked up the procharger when I did because I got a deal on it comparatively to the 5k you pick up a new one for. It was my first supercharger, and I was just stoked to have one. Honestly, I did not know the difference between the centrifugal, roots, and twin screw type blowers until some time after I already had mine installed. I have come quite a ways since then, and have gotten info from alot of reputable tuners, performance shops, and members of forums including this one. I will be the first to say, that I dont know close to everything though.

Just on the informative side of things, you can make amazing numbers out of a procharged 4.6 set-up and there are guys the run 600+ to the wheels in mustangs all day. The problem with it is how much you have to rev up the 4.6 to get the power. The 4.6 is a motor with a short stroke so it likes to wind up really quick. The cobra guys like to brag about their like 380hp at the crank. I think that is the number, but the motor only makes the much power at 6000RPMs. My 4.6 is extremely limited but the heads that it has on it. Couple that with the fact that my engine is mostly stock, and has 190k on it and you dont get great hp/tq numbers. I have put about 8k on my procharger, and I LOVE it. I have driven vehicles with twin screw blowers and the difference is night and day. So to tell you that I wouldn't ditch the procharger for a twin screw would be a lie. I have a brand new tranny, and a old (but reliable) engine so my focus now is shifted towards getting a engine that can handle a great amount of boost with no issues. Once I have replaced the engine, and add a few other things like longtubes and the works, then I will see how content I am with my procharger at that point. If I still desire to make more hp/tq then I will be first in line for a KB or a whipple.

Another thing to note about centrifugals. When you increase the overall boost in the centrifugals, they make boost earlier. Athough I make 9PSI overall now and see maybe 2-3 at 2500-3000. If I was making 15PSI then I may see 6-7PSI at the same RPM range as before. My procharger will be going onto a fully forged/blueprinted 5.4 shortblock, with (hopefully) twisted flow 44cc heads and stock PI cams. I have a feeling that will be more than enough of an upgrade over a stock non-PI 4.6. Another thing is that my truck is driven maybe 4 days out of the week and maybe only for 40-50 miles at a time, and after I graduate from school it will be even less than that depending on how far my new job will be from where I live. Wow, I need to stop.. im writing a book.

I agree with str8t six...just do a built shortblock now and be done with it! then you have a NEW built forged bottom end that can handle pretty much anything you are going to throw at it now or in the future! Thats the one thing I wish I had done as part of my swap, one day (hopefully sooner than later) I will be running boost too and I would just be much more comfortable with the built shortblock. My plan is to run it for awhile with tuning and smaller mods, then depending on how soon probably run an L supercharger at stock level boost with a conservative tune on the stock 5.4 for awhile, but I will want to be fully forged as soon as I can afford it once everything else is done!

Where in the world do I get one of those, and will my procharger bolt up? Also, what tranny does it use? I have a brand new BTR 4r70

Someone did a 32v with a Procharger, could have been in the V8 Forum. IIRC, it has been in the last year??
