Which Supercharger is the Best Bang for the buck ??
Which Supercharger is the Best Bang for the buck ??
I am building a lifted 2008 FX4 with 5.4L; using a Rize 12" lift kit, running on Toyo 40's. I am considering adding a Supercharger to turn the Toyo 40's. Truck will be mainly used on the street, very little if any off road use, some towing.
Which supercharger is the best bang for the buck with reliability?
Bolt on and looking to keep stock lower end?

A powerdyne will be the easiest to install and the least expensive to throw on. With a small pulley and a few other small supporting mods and tuning should only set you back $2K give or take.
Power with a small pulley should be around 80HP+/-to the ground.
Powerdynes get a bad rep but there near maintenance free and easy as hell to work on and there are many upgrades now available for them. However some of these upgrades will easily off set any saving you might have had.
With bigger tires and a lift you’ll be better off looking for a positive displacement which will make good low end power.
However if your spending most of your time on the highway at speeds of 65mph and up go with a procharger, vortech, Paxton.
I know this is most likely not a concern for you but I’ve played with both here’s my thoughts of both.
Case and point
Back in 98 I worked a butt load of OT to get my KB for my 89 gt.
Low end was great and 0-60 times where a real fun. The sky high AIT temps where not!!!!
Now when I raced my buddy’s 89 gt. He had a vortech T trim. 0-60 I would stay a car length ahead of him.
Any thing I mean any thing above about 60 mph he was able to knock me out.
The mid range and top end was crazy with his t trim.
I like both systems for very different reasons.
If I had to do it over again I would have just gotten a car and sunk the money into something that moves out a hell of a lot faster for the $ to power ratio.
If I did it to a truck I would have never played with any of the supercharged and just gone turbo and had the best of both imho.
If I was you I would just find a good used complete positive displacement kit. I think you will be happiest with the power curve imo.

Next F150 with 12" Rize Lift:

Nice Truck, I have to increase my garage door opening first, so I can fit it in my garage.
You have the Rize 12" kit installed?
Do you have Supercharger?
Exhaust?
Gears?
Tires?
Wheels?
Is the 12" stable around corners?

Right now im stationed in Germany so shes sitting in storage waiting to be finished when i get back from my upcoming deployment and when i get back to the states. But she will have some 40/41 inch tires and possibly changing over to 20 inch rims as well but in this picture im running 37inch mud grapplers and 18inch american racing rims
But exhaust is dual flowmaster, 4.88 Yukons F/R, and i also have 17inches of lift not just 12 so you wont be as high as me but she is good around corners. It will be better once i get bigger tires

Id probably break wayyy too many things in this truck if i do. But who knows i just may once its paid off and i get everything done while im deployed
X2 best bang for your buck OP

you better be looking at a gear swap as well, unless you've already done so
and a positive displacement supercharger is he only way you'll be happy unless you wastegate a centrufigal
They dont make 5.13s for our trucks front axle. Lowest you can go is 4.88s...I was going to have a custom set of 5.13s made for my truck but the guy was unsure if it would fit in the 8.8 up front. However they do make them for the 9.75 rear end but if you install gears you want the same front and rear. Confirm your axles because i believe all 04-08s have 8.8 Reverse cut up front with a 9.72 rear end.
