electric supercharger

So my friend who drives a 2009 f-150 5.4 bought this electric supercharger off ebay the other day. Here's a link to it.

I told him he was crazy if he was going to cut his intake to put this in. I kept on bashing him for it and got him to change his mind about installing it, at least for the time being. I was just wondering what you guys would have to say about this product, and maybe give me some real good reasons of why it wouldn't work, based on expertise that I don't have. It was just my common since telling me it's a retarded idea. I could be wrong I guess, just let me know what you all think.

it will only work when in use together with a tornado and tb spacer.

its crap..just like the 20$ "chip" they sell that is just a resistor. That thing is just a small fan, that MIGHT create a higher pos. pressure inside the intake, but nothing that is going to make a difference. Sounds good in theory and thats about it.

He might want to have a new intake after he blows it up, maybe some snake oil for added performance, I wouldn't put that on my lawnmower

I can't help but think less of your friend for buying that. He could have spent his money on something else that WILL yield some extra hp. Help him out, convince him to return it.

Wow. I actually knew a guy that installed an electric leaf blower on his v6 camaro. He is an absolute idiot too. That should tell you something.

It is possible to supercharge an gasoline based engine using and electric motor, but this is absolutely not the way to go. I think other posters gave you enough reasons. Oddly there are worst items on-line, and even some of them advertised on several "auto" sites;including this one.

LOL It probably is his muffler bearing!!!. He used to work for VW so he can't be wrong?

Ford used the cheapest bearings on the market.
