Pro Charger PSC-1. Questions about driveability.

YO! I've got a procharger on my 02 F150 5.4 and it always ran great, super quick, awesome truck.

Lately I'm beginning to question the way the truck runs under load or acceleration. I recently replaced my tranny because it was toast and slipping. Now that I have the new tranny, I know that what I'm feeling isn't likely a tranny issue.

The truck feels like it will just flatten out or bog like there's a damn trailer behind it!

Any ideas why it doesn't pick up and haul *** like it used to? Should I have it looked at and or tuned? I know next to nothing about these systems and any help is appreciated! All I've done is changed the oil in it when its due.

Sometimes it runs as if there are zero issues and here and there, it runs as described above. THANX GUYS!

Thought that might be the next Q.. I bought the truck from a dealer already built. They got the truck from an auction.

In other words. No f'n clue, unfortunately.

Aside from a k&n filter, its stock (engine, trans).

Assuming that the transmission is not the culprit I would look at a few things. Check the belt tension. The colder weather can cause the belt to slip so it may need to be tightened. Using the stock kit leaves holes in the tune. The kit comes with a fuel management system that over pressurizes the fuel system as a means of adding the extra fuel to compensate for the boost. I would consider using larger injectors, MAF and 255 l/hr fuel pump and a custom tune.

I would also look at cleaning the MAF, new plugs and front O2 sensors if they have more than 50k on them.

That's a great point about the belt. My belt is torn. A while back, the bracket that holds the blower and pulleys must have bent. I noticed that two of the six ribs around the belt were gone. Just shredded clean off. I replaced the belt, and just last night I popped the hood to find that this belt is in the same condition.

The belt rides the pulleys fine everywhere except on the blower, where the belt sits a few ribs more foreward. Now, how I bent that bracket?! Damn! No loose nuts or bolts, and the tensioner adjustment bolt looks a bit warped back as well... New brackets are around $300 from Pcharger.

Moto_xmayhem21, are you on an FMU with a Boost-a-pump or with fuel upgrades, MAF and a tune??

Backwards eh? I can actually SEE damage (bent bracket) and it was fine for two years...

Tarajerame, that's an iteresting language you're speaking... I am 'blower illiterate' so try and dumb it down for me, eh? Haha.

FMU: fuel management? I believe so. Anodized red unit under the hood. Regulate fuel pressure?
MAF: Mass air flow? Behind air intake? Looks to be a stock ford unit.

Tune: I haven't ever had it in a shop for tuning. I bought the truck used, 29k mi. & it now has 80k mi.

Sorry on behalf of my under par termonology breakdown.

And I appreciate the help guys!

Are you sure the bracket is bent? I may simply be loose mounting bolts where he bracket fastens to the front cover.

@ JMC: Well, the tensioner bolt is mildly bent for sure. As for mounting hardware, I have yet to find any loose bolts and or parts. A more thurough investigation will confirm that for sure....

@ Crash!: I too have been blown away by how powerful the truck was until now. Props to PC!

@ Tarajerame: I believe there is a pump under the drivers side frame rail, aftermarket. I will check on all these suggestions after work tomorrow to make sure I can provide you gentlemen will the correct info. Especially since you're taking the time to help a complete stranger!!!

Thanx Guys, I really appreciate your time!

there is a chance the pump has failed...

start the truck and crawl underneath and listen to the fuel pump mounted on the rail, if it's silent then it's probably no good which will solve one issue

Looks like a stock pump under there w in line filter. I didn't see a 'boot a pump' but I also didn't check further up the rail. I could apply voltage to the pump too right? Open the line, 12 volts, gas everywhere a good sign? Haha, I don't think its the pump but a good idea nevertheless.
