flex fuel injectors

I was wondering if anyone knew how much the flex fuel injectors flowed on the 2009 and up 5.4's. I installed the procharger p1sc set up on my truck and was told that the injectors were more than capable of supporting the blower set up with the 3 core cooler and the 3.00 upper pully. The thing pulls like a monster and and is scary fun to drive. The only code that pops up is the p050e code for a rich when cold condition.

How much boost are you running? Are you using a FMU? The injectors alone would be marginal at best with boost. I don't know for sure but I would expect your stock injectors are the same 24 pph injectors used in the earlier models.

Well, the little guage in the dash says 12 psi when it spools up under full load. The program came from Procharger and can't be altered. The system is a complete plug and play system, install the blower, intercooler, and air tubes, then down load the program. That was it. I don't know about the FMU. Procharger seemed to be under the impression that the flex fuel injectors flowed enough for this set up because when i asked about upgrading the injectors with the kit they said it wasn't necessary.

Did you have to plug your fuel lines into a device that came with the supercharger kit?

No. The only lines that were touched were the PVC lines on the intake manifold. There was no mention of the fuel system at all in the directions. Like i said this kit was so simple to put on and use that i thought it would be alot more problematic than it is reading all of these forums for the last 8 months. It's not a race truck, but it sure gets peoples attention when whistles past them!

trick flow did something like this on a supercharger kit for the 2010 camaro. and it could work your just running your injectors at a higher duty cycle. also the diff between flex fuel injectors and normal injectors is questionable, it's all in the tune. i don't believe there is any difference in the rate of flow.

Thanks for the reply. Does running at a higher duty cycle do anything to shorten the life of the injectors, or put stress on any other part of the electrical system? The prochargers been on for a month now and i'm already looking to upgrade. The major limmiting factor is it's my daily driver. Still seems there like is alot more in there.

do you do any racing or drive like your playing GTA 4. if so yes it can shorten the life of the injectors, but if your just using it so towing or passing power then you'll be fine.

as for upgrading i'd talk to somebody who does custom tuning like bill cohron at PHP or mike troyer at troyer performance or just starkey at vmp tuning. they can advise you i don't know much about the 09s. but i know a tune and 39-42lb injectors would be 2 things that would help greatly.

The 04+ uses a returnless fuel system. The PCM increased voltage to the fuel pump to increase fuel pressure. There is no need for an FMU but a tune or program is needed and included to change the fuel parameters in the PCM.

I have the same set-up, but I chose to only go the 9 psi set-up. I had mine dynoed and looking at the air/fuel ratio throughout the pull, the injectors had plenty of flow. I actually had Nick at ATI change my tune to get rid of the PCM code. He just leaned it out a little for me, but I'm using the AFE exhaust system and he had forgot to tune for the freer flowing exhaust system. The truck runs great and I'm like you I use mine as a daily driver. Recently took it on vacation to Disney World. Averaged 21.5 mpg all the way doing 75 mph. 17 hour drive one way. Good luck on your system and have a blast.

By the way, I recently took it back to the dyno after the re-tune and my new numbers are 421 rwhp and 438 ft/lbs of torque. I trying some Brisk racing plugs since my truck already had 20,000 miles on it before putting on the Procharger. ATI recommended that the plugs be changed if they had more than 10,000 before the change. My old plugs looked like the perfect example of what plugs should look like. Nice tan ceramic and light ash on the tips, so I'm like "what the heck" I've already bought the Brisk's. By the way, the only difference in the flex fuel injectors and the regular ones is the material. Flex fuel injectors can take the more corrosive nature of ethanol as well as the rest of the fuel system has upgraded features for higher ethanol content, least that's what my dealership told me.
