Go to a crummy part of town and find a muffler shop. Pay in cash. Don't act weird.

I'm sure in California your having problems getting a muffler shop to do it.
Big fines for the shop if they do it!
Just do it yourself if ya can.

Are you adding long tube headers at the same time?

Phil

Why wont it pass with aftermarket cats? I have emissions every 2 years and I have not failed yet, maybe you guys have a more in depth inspection

Yes our inspection is more in depth and i think possible more strict on the emission part too.

I recently took my old GMC, which is bone stock, to be smogged, and it was a shock. They are now doing a visual inspection with a mirror on wheels to see that all of the stock exhaust components are in place. The guy doing the test actually had a book from which he looked up the oem exhaust configuration for confirmation.

Also, my exhaust guy told me that he had to replace an entire system to stock for a customer who had been ticketed for modified exhaust. All of the paperwork for the components used in the replacement had to be submitted with the re-registration.
