Lightning conversion questions

OK, am about to check into a blower from a Lightning, year unknown. I haven't talked to the guy yet. Now, say it's a 99-00 blower, does this mean I have to look for the lower and mid intakes of the same years? I've searched and couldn't get that info but thaught I remember seeing this as an important note. I ask because they blower I am looking at doesn't have the rest of the intakes so I'd need to buy these elsewhere. I do know you are supposed to get the larger 10? row intercooler found on the 01+ vs, the 8 or 9 row 99-00 one. Maybe that was the only difference, but something tells me there are 2 types of blowers that have different mounting points, this true?

Also, my stock bottom end could take this new found power at a pretty much stock setup and 228k km's, 140k miles approx?

Try to find an 01+... there are 2 different superchargers but only the bolt pattern is different. the 99-00 can be drilled to fit the 01+. As for your engine, im sure it will hold up for a while, but probably not too long

That's right, there was a spot needing drilling. Right now I want to start piecing this project together and am debating building the whole engine with good stuff, cams etc to a spare block I picked up (gonna install and build it eventually) or just bolt the charger on the existing for the time bieng. It would be my DD so beating on it would be minor.

My other question is the harness for the engine. I'm assuming I should start finding a used L one but I've heard the original might work from my truck now. This true?

The L harness has 2 extra wires, but there not used with the stock, non L, ECM. Remember that these engine have weak rods and cheap pistons for boosted applications, so keep the redline low and the boost to 10ish and that all depends on tune and how you are going to drive it.

Good stuff starts with rods, pistons and crank if yours is not steel.

Well, I bought one, damn near if not complete from soup to nuts. I do plan to keep boost low, stock like for now and for the new engine raise it a bit because lets face it, it's my DD and I drive it 4 seasons. I'm a believer in a good foundation so when the time and $$$ permits, the long block will be done up, not crazy but good internals with a bit of a cam to compliment the s-charger. I'm about to go nuts over here, very excited about my soon boosted whip. Thanks for the feedback guys, I will post on my progress when it comes.

harley (heritage to F-150 new body 5.4)

I have not found a thread yet to specify but did all harley trucks come with a super charger and if so did the heritage body style use the 5.4 motors and is it opossible to do a swap to a new body style 04 5.4?

There was an article in ford performance trucks magazine where they did a swap into a harley truck. Basically the 2000 harley trucks did not have the S/C and the 01-04's did. The 04-up 5.4 has 3v heads and VCT, a swap is possible but you will have to disable the vct, and the exhaust ports on the heads are different.

yes, the kit did look like the one pictured cobrakit, actually, I may not need a whole lot, maybe a heat x-changer, MAF and a few odds and ends here and there.

JMC, I'm in the Riverside area, guaranteed you've seen the truck around because I've seen yours.

Finally this thing will be boosted, looking forward to it. As far as the list of parts needed, I've had that saved in "favorites" for years. Now that day has come.

I though only 2002 to 2003 HD were supercharged. 2004 only had L's. And 2004 Heritage was suppose to have 2v motor so it could use L/HD swap as well. I know there were Expeditions in 2004 that had 2v motors as well.

the 2000 and 2001 harley trucks were regualr N/A 5.4 motors

only the 2002-2003 Harley trucks came factory supercharged

the later harley trucks came with the supercharger as a dealer option

the 3 valve 5.4 uses a different lower intake so you'd need a 5.4 3 valve supercharger assembly
