Quick Q...

I tried to do a search for it, but I can't seem to find it... I think I remember reading a while back that someone who was supercharged said they often take their truck out of overdrive to pass cars...

I was wondering if that is the smart thing to do.. And if you do that, how do you do that... as in, do you slow down, hit your OD off button then take off, pass and then turn it back on? Seems that would be hard on the truck jumping the RPM's up like that...

Do you turn it off to take hard starts onto interstates/highways... I have had the truck for a while now, but just trying to save my trans from being prematurely destroyed haha.

Thanks Guys

I tap the O/D button then a millisecond later I go WOT especially if I am at 70mph or less. Heat and the O/D to 2nd down shift and a WOT shift into O/D is what will destroy the tranny. Anytime I go to get on the freeway I always leave the O/D off untill I get into a good groove, also once I pass someone and I am no longer WOT I hit the O/D button to turn it back on.

Oh and by the way I am pushing more HP/TQ then what is recomended and I tow a 7K boat and my truck is at 110K and still running strong on the original tranny

that definitely makes me feel a little better about mine. I have just now 61k on mine. Im not sure how the original owner ran it, but I have basically been coming up to a car.. hit the O/D off WOT, then turn it back on as I am coasting infront of them. Interstate I usually do like you and turn it off till Im up to speed.

I'm not running the I/C so I'm not even close to pushing what you are for numbers, Impressive tho...

We do this to avoid a 4-2 downshift, they are bad for our trans.
