a dent in the pipe - turbulence?

so i had a little accident and dented the pipe that goes up to the turbo, i dented it right at the mandrel bend..

like this (at the top of that pipe is where the turbo is mounted)

well, the truck can still make full boost (8psi)... but its not as easy, it wants to stop at 6-7psi (without wot) and in wot it will hit 7 and then JUMP to 8 then back to 7...

could this dent be causing turbulence? i already fixed the exhaust leaks that i caused from my little messup but did not replace that section of the pipe that is dented.

a friend of mine told me that a dent can make a turbo application do all kinds of screwy things.

I like the illustration!

I'm sure that the bend in the pipe has a much larger radius or sweep than the tight 90*. AS the air flows faster on the inside radius than the outside radius, my guess is that it's not a big deal.

well..... it is a 90 degree bend... but if the dent in the pipe is not causing this then i guess its either my wastegate or boost controller :-( i just replaced my boost controller before this happened (the dent) and now that i think about it... it did jump once before.. i remember hitting 8psi and it jumping to 9 maybe 10.

my old boost controller never did any of this but it started to leak...
