Exclamation Used supercharger....safe?

Hey guys, im in college so right now im making dimes and spending dollars....so i could no way afford a new blower, but ive always wanted one so bad.....How do you guys feel about used superchargers?? Are there any that would be safer to go with having been used??? You guys that have installed used superchargers, how did it go? what are ups and downs? Thanks in advance for your input

I bought my Pro-Charger used, I got a awesome deal the guy had the complete kit, even gave me a new spool of wire to run the boost-a-pump! He told me the kit had 10,000 miles on it. (you never really know I guess) but I definatly didn't have 5 g's to drop on a blower, but I got this one for $1300

I have about 10,000 miles on it now, the only issue I've had with it is a idler bearing. I'm sure it's just like buying anything else used, you could get a great deal, or you might not. Good luck.

I bought mine used at it was complete, only issue I had was a faulty injector that didnt relize till about a year later when it help me drop a cylinder do to running too lean.

They are out there and you can get a good bargain. If you find one that isnt complete then do a research on the parts you need before you purchase to make sure that they are available.

Is there any brand or type of supercharger that you guys think would give me the least amount of trouble if purchased used...? like do some have less moving parts or less dangerous parts when they get older?

thanks again

p.s. Will the fact that I have a body lift affect the install of a supercharger??

Whats up Phil
This guy is a member on another forum and has it listed in their classifieds. It's a good deal and he is motivated to sell it.

It took me about 10 hours, by myself in the parking lot behind my apartment.
If your mechanically inclined it's a pretty easy install. Check out the Procharger website, they have the guy on TRUCKS! installing one.

a procharger will take between 6 and 12 hours to minstall. if you go with a procharger get a new bypass valve before you run the system otherwise you'll be disappointed in the low end power

I got a great deal on a used Procharger. $3300.00 for a complete kit with 3 core intercooler minus the hose clamps. That included a tune too. It also included the large rubber elbow that Madenterprise used to sell. The blower had a fresh rebuild from Procharger.

Now almost a year later I have discovered that one of the seals is leaking allowing pressurized air into the gear box. Subsequent research has shown that the Procharger is prone to leaks. They have leather seals on the pulley shaft!

You get what you pay for......

Have you looked into putting a Lightning /Harley intake assembly on top of your 5.4?
A lot of guys going this way and really loving it!
