I need some speed

Hey guys I need your advice. I need some power. I have a 4.6, first problem, second i have 4 inch lift bigger tires and huge brush guard and a custom steel hood. So you could say the odds are against me. I have the normal mods such as high performance tune up stuff exhaust etc. But my biggest issue is that getting on highways, or passing someone is really a challenge. So it was suggested that I add a little nitrous to give me the boost that I desire from time to time. Nothing major 50-75 shot that only would kick when the throttle was all the way open. But I worry about NOS and what it could do to a engine with 105K on it. So then I was advised a supercharger, powerdyne for a little more, then someone said go with a turbo. So in the end I am all confused and do not want to damage the engine. So I need your opinions, cost IS an issue but want do you think. I know Troyer is God but im not sure if his tunes will get me what I need but i dont know. Im open to everything at this point.

Help?

Sounds like you need a gear swap!
And a tune will do wonders!

if cost is an issue the nitrous is really the cheapest by far. if you have 5k laying around then i'd say go turbo or supercharge. and you should be safe running a 50 shot on a stock motor as far as what ive seen people do before.

But will nos hurt my engine with 105k miles on it? I want more power now and then. But don't want to blow an engine a few miles down the road

Yup.
Two missing pieces of info:
1. What size tires
2. What gears are you running?

You really need gears and least just to put it back to stock gearing. That will make a huge difference without putting any extra strain on the engine.

On a side note not a fan of nitrous only get the power momentarily is not my thing and filling the bottle, in the long run not cheaper. Might as well go supercharger and have the power there at all times.

Not sure what the axle code is, how would I find that one? I agree that NOS isn't power all the time but I don't really need it all the time just in certain situations. But its also a 4000.00 solution compared to a 600.00 solution, I'm just scared of blowing something up, but I'm told a 50 or 75 shot is safe.

on your drivers door there is a tag that has the vin, axle code, wheel base etc

you can buy a used supercharger, I have around $2500 (after upgrades) in the procharger setup on my '01 and it's pretty quick
