Supercharger issues

I get a check engine light and some light pinging at WOT sometimes. The code reader gives me a below threshhold error? I reset the code and it stay away for a few weeks. Should I be concerned about the pinging? This is with 93 gas in a roush intercooled supercharged 4x4 Supercrew.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Sounds like you are detonating. Better get your tune checked or stay outta the pedal. Have you noticed if it is really cold when it pings? (regarding you live in Delaware) I have to be easy during the winter because of the cooler temps cause mine will detonate at WOT....I also think it's the grade of 93 that I get. I don't believe it's the same every time

I have tried many different brands of gas. Seems worse when its warmer outside.

wait how can colder temps cause a greater chance at detonation. i though it was hotter temps. hense the denser air better for power???

I would have your injectors checked out. My truck started pinging till it welded the tip of the electrode. Found out I had a injector that had some big debris in it. The guy who rebuilt and flow tested my injectors said that ford went away with a internal screen on the 39lb cobra injectors shortly after they were in production. Once mine were cleaned he used the early style screen and installed it in all of mine. If you are running the stock Roush tune it should never detonate(ping) unless you have a injector going out, wrong octane gas, or bad gas with water in it. Did you just fill up with gas? Have you changed your fuel filter? Filter needs changing every 10K or so. Did anything change right before the pinging started? Anyway good luck on finding the problem.

How many miles do you have on the injectors? Could have one going out.

I would definitely stay away from WOT till you get it resolved, keep us updated

Wouldn't water in the gas lower the chance of detonation as the vaporization process drops the cylinder temps?

in small amounts that is correct like a snow performance kit. Which injects a 50/50 mix of water and meth. Never add water to gas
(edited to make clear)

I had about 3 gals of water in my tank at one time due to a leaking storage tank after heavy rains and i got horrable pinging because of it. When the truck would run it ran bad and everytime the fuel pump would suck the water up it would ping terrable then a puff of white smoke out the tail pipes would follow.

I'm not shure what would cause this but my advice would be to stay away from WOT or your next thread will be Roush go BOOM part three

LOL that's funny you would even feel the need to state that, but you do never really know.
