Need opinions from you guys.
I have a 97 F-150 4x4 with the 4.6 motor, with a Procharger on it. I had a small oil leak around the passenger side valve cover a while back. I figured it might have something to do with all the extra pressure from the blower, so I got a breather to replace the oil cap on the valve cover. While I was waiting for the breather to come in, I had the leak fixed with a new gasket. After recieving the new breather, I installed it as I figured it couldn't hurt to add it. Well shortly after that, I noticed that the breather filter was soaked with oil, and evidently blowing oil out onto the valve covers. I took it off, put the oil cap back on, and no more oil leak. Has anyone had this happen to them before after installing a breather cap on your valve cover? I thought most blown motor's had them to help relieve crank case pressure. Any help will be appreciated. THANKS!!!

Here's a cheap way to "help" the blow-by. It's a Cambell/Hausfield water separator that you can buy at Wal-mart, then connected with various fittings(if you can find the ones you need). Unfortunately, once a little bit of oil gets in the bowl, it doesn't catch as much blow-by. For less headache, buy TWO catch tanks and connect one to each side valve cover (PCV). I have another one on the other side. You might want to check the driver's side...Depending on how long you've been running the charger, you may have oil coming from the driver's side PCV, blowing thru your charger, down into your intercooler.
If you search for "oil catch tank" on ebay, you can buy them for about $30shipped. If you'll search for "catch can" or "blow by" in this forum, you'll find several different ways...the tanks works best for me

Well you do have the correct pcv valve right??? A lot of engines will run good with the wrong pcv until they start to really have blow by! make sure it doesn't pass boost back into your valve cover. Other than that, be sure the breathers are capable of "breathing" and check the leak-down on your motor.

I have the same problem with mine, oil coming out of the driver side valve cover into the intake. I alrteady have the passenger side taken care of and I have the parts to fix the driver side it but I am just too lazy to do it now. Besides its snowing out. You might want to look at the PCV just to make sure it shuts and doesn't leak. If it does it will worsen the problem by allowing boost into the valve cover.

Anyone hear of running a hose from the valve cover to the exhaust behind the collector of the headers to help relieve some pressure? A guy I work with, says it works on their drag car engines, so it might work for my motor also. Also, he wasn't suprised when I told him it was pushing oil from the breather like I thought he would.
When was the last time you changed your pcv? The breather will work, but you'll need to get another tune because of it. I was running 15# of boost and didn't have any issues with blow by. Make sure your MAF is not getting soaked with oil. The breather could be placed on either the driver or passenger's side valve cover where the pcv is.

I have looked at the PCV from both sides. Both look to be just an open fitting. No one way in, one way out...you can see thru them. What am I missing here? I installed a PCV from a mustang as suggested in another thread. I took it back off cause I didn't like the way it bleed pressure back out...seemed restricted.
The PVC return on a Pcharger comes in after the MAF. He shouldn't have a problem from the pcv blow-by. Possibly from a freshly installed oiled air filter though.
Make sure your MAF is not getting soaked with oil.
After putting the oil cap back on, the leak stopped as I thought it would. I did notice that it sounds different with the cap on it compared to the filter cap though. Evidently I have a ton of pressure wanting to go somewhere when it is under heavy boost. How accurate are boost guages? Mine said it was reading almost 14# after installing a fresh belt, and as far as I know it only has the 12# pulley on it.
