2005 4.6 turbo or SC
Not sure what I should do but I want either a SC or a turbo. Dont know what kit I can use for either cause I believe I have a 2 valve and the new gt kits are made for 3 valves or something like that. Can someone please help me??
It would be a custom job either way. The timing cover on the f150 4.6 is different than the PI 2v Mustangs so the mounting hardware from a kit meant for a Mustang wouldn't work. If you know someone with metal working experience who can fabricate a mounting bracket for a centri supercharger you'd be golden. Also, the plumbing would have to be one-off too. As far as the turbo goes, you'd need the manfold made and the plumbing.
Turbo
Put a turbo on it, that would be by far the best bet. You can install a turbo on any vehicle with any motor with a little custom work. Plus you can put down some serious power with a turbo, much more adjustable than a supercharger, you can get two or three times the boost from a turbo. Only disadvantage is a turbo isnt going to give you that low end power that a supercharger will but i bet your *** if you put your 4.6 turbo up against a 4.6 supercharger the turbo is going to kill the supercharged in the long run. Plus the sound of a turbo sounds much better than a supercharger in my oppion. Also if you want a great turbo go for a Garret T76 turbo, i have seen this turbo make a thousand rwhp on a 6.0 chevy without nitrous and that is just a SINGLE TURBO!!!

Yeah i would agree that a 76mm turbo would need alot more mods than a turbo in the 50mm range and the boost levels would be low. But the truck i was talking about with the 76mm had extensive mods done to it. But a turbo f-150 would be awesome I have never seen one and really want to turbo mine but being a college student does not give you much spending room for a turbo setup. Only gasoline full size truck turbo i have ever seen is a chevy z71 with a STS twin turbo setup and that was sick. Remote mount turbo's are the way to go, keep all that heat out of the engine compartment!

There are actually quite a few guys that have turbos on their v6 f150s with some pretty impressive results. On a 4.6 a turbo would be ****** awsome! do some searching on the web for turbo 4.2L f150's. Those places might give you some insite on places that have done custom turbos on f150's. The 4.6 and the 4.2 arent all that different except the 2 pistons.
