In the never ending quest for more power I am considering upgrading the camshafts in my 01 5.4L. The current truck is running an 01 L blower at 10 PSIG with stock (non L motor) 5.4L internals. Any suggestions on a good blower cam for the 5.4L? BTW, I live in an area the requires smog testing (not CA thank god) so the cam needs to be smog legal.

 

I'd call one of the cam companies directly and ask thier tech people

 

JDM makes a cam set for the lightnings. It may be what you want.

Comp makes great cams, Crower too but they make their power with more lift. Both are very common with the L guys. As well as JDM, JLP etc. VT engines makes some nice cams. Make sure they are blower spec. But with your non L motor I'd think you won't gain much power without pushing the limits of that block.
