Relaced the Procharged Epxy with...

...a 2007 Dodge 2500 Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4, Cummins Turbodiesel 5.9 HO.
325hp, 610 lb-ft torque. (Not the new 6.7 Cummins)

So I guess I'm now banned from the forum

Really wanted a 2008 Superduty 6.4L, but the dealer was only willing to take $1500 off the sticker. Same for the Chevy dealer...the Dodge dealer took $9K off sticker before we even started to negotiate the deal.

So basically, for just a little bit more than I've seen used trucks for (with similar equipment), I got a new one.

It's not anywhere near as nice as the 2008 Super Duty, but it's good enough considering the price.

Not to be anti-Ford, but I think the Cummins diesel is the best one on the market, better than the P/S Ford has. Good choice.

The new cummins is having some of the same issues the 6.4 has.
Congrats on the new ride!

A guy I work with has a Laramie(sp?) cummings HO. Nice truck, AND the blasted thing gets 22mpg empty and about 16(what my F-150 gets) with four horses behind it mountain highways.

I was thinking about panning around for one since I'm nearly 10 grand under my trade in value but I get out of the service to soon to pick up another payment, and the dodge stealership here had nothing under 40 grand, which I refuse to pay for ANYTHING.

Grats on the new ride

Talking

Nice engine...not so sure about the rest of the truck.

I'm just kidding. I have a couple friends with the Cummins engine in their Dodge trucks and they are very happy with them.

Just keep an eye on your tranny's health. It think beyond a doubt it is the weak link in your drive train.

Oh, and one more thing...try not to twist your frame rails

My truck stickered at $43K, got it for $34K.

Thanks guys.
I actually do fear that the engine will outlast the rest of the truck.
But it'll be used mostly for towing, so the miles will be relatively few.

Yeah I have heard of the front end falling apart on the '02+ 2500. Something about the motor weighing more then the rest of the truck, but yeah for towing you'll get 350,000 out of it easy.

A good buddy of mine has a 2005 Cummins 2500, he is at 100,000 miles with no problems. It tows and is a daily driver with a long commute in Kansas City.

Seems the Dodge dealers are more willing to deal.

Local Ford and Chevy dealers "generously" offered me $1500 off MSRP.
It's funny because as I left each dealership, I was told "You'll be back. There's no way any dealership is gonna give you $8000 off sticker."

I guss he was partially correct, because the Dodge dealer took $8000 before we even started negotiating...and after negotiating, I ended up getting $9,000 off sticker.

Granted, the Chevy rode very well, had a great interior, and the Allison tranny / Duramax 6.6 combo is very nice...but it's an ugly truck IMHO.
And the Ford 6.4 was a beast, nice ride and the best interior/exterior of the three.

But I couldn't justify paying such a high premium.

Congrats! Even with that "weak link" 48re tranny which I believe actually has a better performance/repair history than Ford or GM.

That's the direction I was leaning before losing any vestigial resale value through a burnt valve.

I for one have appreciated your advice and insights. Feel free to stick around despite defecting to the dark side.
