okay,
so considering punch per buck, what do you guys think? STS turbo or the ATI procharger intercooled kit? Main thing i didnt like about the STS kit was A. you have to buy the universal kit for us ford guys (not too big a deal), and B. the underbody location of the intake and filter. Force induced water... POP! nice!
But a lot of guys stand by those kits.... idk, im leaning to ATI...

I'd go with the ATI too. Think the STS kit would make more power stock kit vs. stock kit but in terms of upping the power later on I think the ATI setup can make more. Turbo is just too far back, open to environmental concerns, and can be stolen with a cordless electric impact wrench in minutes.
the sts turbo has an intake upgrade that will move the filter and protect it. as to the turbo is designed to be in full boost just over 2000 rpm's. it is also upgradable later to push up to 15 psi. they make all different kinds of housings as well. it works real well. i know a lot of people that run them as well.
If I didn't want a CARB approved blower to appease the smog *****, I think I would have gone with the STS. I like the remote location (keeps the hot turbo from under my hood). And the fabrication for the mounting shouldn't be too tough.
The intake relocation upgrade, or a pre-filter (outerwears filters repel water - outerwears.com) would make sense.
If I made a change today, I think I'd run an STS through my Procharger 2-core intercooler, since it's just a matter of piping it all in.
A turbo will make more power than a supercharger at any given PSI due to significantly less parasitic losses.
My Expy is low and garaged, so I don't have to worry much about theft...but on a lifted truck, it might be pretty visible to thieves.

i`v read to much about people having water/filter problems,and they(people) have tried all sorts of different locations for filter...i do like there set up
,but until they *box it in* or something...i even thought about using my OEM filter box ,,relocated high enough not to get drowned...other than that stick to a SC... IMHO
I have always thought of just plumbing a nice intake into the bed of the truck from the bottom and running a filter in there, it wouldn't take up much space and would be nice clean cool air for the most part. this would solve the water/dirt problem on the rear mount turbo setups.

I don't think that it would be too tough to fabricate some sort of box or splash shielding for it. But it may not be "OEM-watertight".
But my truck is street-only, and it doesn't rain too much here in SoCal...and I don't drive her too much in the rain...so I don't have the concerns about water that other folks might.
