PTK turbo for towing?

i tow i good size toyhauler 7K pounds my truck does fine on the flats but going up hills i could use more power, i need power in the 3K RPM range or so, the turbo kit sounds nice i just want to know what would be the best application for me also i heard tuning a turbo is a bit tricky, any good tuners in the san diego area or a hour or so drive, i am just looking to get some more towing power for my lifted beast, what would be the safest way to get the most power from my truck, it has low miles 40K hauls *** for the size, just need some up hill pulling power, let me know any suggestions or input is great, will have around $7K to spend to get the numbers and power i want, thank you for any input. aslo wont be doing the work till march after i get back from Iraq, thank you much.

Oh,,well just how much power are you looking to make?
With the L conversion and a K B upgrade blower I'm making 493 RWHP at 15 PSI.
I know thats not great but not bad.

so you have a lightning block and a kb blower? i thought you were talking about just a lightning eaton swap, i dont plan on swaping entire block, once my internals let go, i plan on going full built. shouldnt happen for awile only have 40k on the clock thing runs like glass, after i go full built block i hope to get 600 hp but this is not for a few years when this truck will be just for play, and not work. realisticly i want around 400 hp and at least 450 if not 500 pounds TQ, that is my goal for now, but i want to get a system that can be upgraded latter, ie pulley or larger turbo. i just want something i can build on and not have to sell off to advance. how do you like the KB? i would be enterested on how you think it would do towing. thanks for any help or info

I blew my first motor. Now I'm running a built L block/ported heads and lots of other mods. It made 533 RWHP at 17 psi. I could get up to 25 psi with just pulley changes but you have to run the high octane race gas when you do that.
Heres some pics. http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.c...y.asp?id=16414
Oh and I think I could pull my house down with it!LOL

Yes the KB or the Eaton would be great for toeing. If you do the install you could set it up for under 7000.
When I had my truck done I swapped out the blower and sold the Eaton right from the beginning.
Block and all was only a little over 10K for parts.
You need somthing like this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...spagenameZWDVW

Plus this kit from Mike http://www.madenterprise.com/scparts.htm
That will get you to the limits of the stock block. Then when you get a built block you could upgrade the heads or blower or anything you might want to.

Dont make the mistake I did.I got a KB kit before I did the L swap and it sucked.Sent it back did the swap and got the KB Lightning upgrade blower. My blower is a 2.3 they sell a 2.6 now.

so you are saying dont get the KB on my stock block? you got me alittle confused, i want something i can put on my low milage stock block that i can still upgrade later, on a built block. bottom line is i want something to put on my stock block that i can use on a built block down the road, the KB looks like a good choice from the info on there website, let me know what you think, i have done alot of engine work but nothing FI on any of my vehicles. thanks for the help so far i am torn between the PTK and the KB the lightning swap sounds tempting but i dont like having to peice together everything. i like to buy the complete kit install and take to a good tuner, thanks again, let me know you thoughts.

Do not get the KB kit for stock application. No intercooler!Put that kit on my built block and it would not make much power. You can make more power with the L swap just like it is.You need the kit off ebay and the kit from Mike and a tune and your good to go.The links are in my other post! The 2 kits together are less then a KB kit, make more power and is very easy to upgrade. You will never make the power your looking for with a stock KB kit!
To do the Lightning swap you need the kit off ebay and the kit from Mike. That would be you best bet.
Kenne Bell makes a kit for the F-150 and they sell just the blower for a lightning upgrade that would go on a lightning intake manifold not a F-150 manifold.

I'm not telling you to do it! I'm just trying to help you with info from what I have been through.I am on my third supercharger set up and the Lightning swap is by far the best I have had on my truck.First was a Allen kit, then a KB kit and now I have the Lightning setup.I will never have to get a better set up.For the 5.4 2V I think its the best. They came stock on the Ls from Ford and is very very nice.
My Screw went 12.3 @ 110.9 in the 1/4 mile and I will soon have this 6000lb truck in the 11s
Your best info on the install will come from Mike at mad.Call him with any questions you might have.Very nice guy and has helped lots of people with the install.I did not install the L setup on my truck.I have a guy that did it for me and is also a tuner.
One thing I can tell you is you will need the tune before you even turn the key.The truck will not run without the tune in there.
