Question Best super/turbocharger for daily driver

I have a 04 f150 5.4, it has a 6 inch lift, 35 inch tires. I would like to get a turbo or a supercharger for it. But, its my daily driver, so I want something thats good on gas, but gets good power. What company/product would be the best? And price dosn't matter. Thanks

I think for the 04 5.4 the whipple would be your best bet.

Whipple! And if price isn't a concern, get yourself some 4.56 gears as well.

I personally would go with whipple now. Although If you are willing to get a custom turbo setup, that would be the ticket IMO.

I'm not convinced that good gas mileage and blowers go together. I know some claim to have the same mileage as before the blower but it doesn't make sense. More air going in means more gas needed, and once you feel the difference in power, it's going to be hard to keep your foot out of it. I mean, why put a blower on in the first place. I've got a Procharger on mine and I really like it. My last dyno run only showed 302/365 at the wheels but I was running lean, had to shut it down at 4000 rpm. I installed a new tune recently but haven't made it back to the dyno yet but it feels strong. Gas mileage is aroung 10 p/gal. but I do get on it. I could possibly see 12 of 13 if I drove it easier but what the hell.

I get 14mpg and pushing over 400hp. Now if I keep my foot in it, I drop to 11. I know I sure wouldn't go back to stock. It's nice to have that extra power when passing or merging.

You mean a larger fuel pump that flows more fuel, a tune that adds fuel to compensate for the extra air, and larger fuel injectors with twice the flow of the stockers don't improve fuel efficiency?

You mean a Lightning gets worse MPG than a similarly equipped 5.4L F150 shortbed?

How can that be?

(I completely agree with you, BTW )

Elmer, I think you'll find that most of the supercharger kits on the market are made for stock motor applications with little or no extra mods necessary & you can get anywhere from 100-150 hp gains. Some kits come with everything you need like larger injectors, fuel pump, maybe even the larger MAF sensor. If it doesn't, you'll need it. As far as your daily driver, not to worry, most of us on this forum use our trucks every day. Now we just have alot more power to enjoy. As far as gas mileage goes as you may have noticed from my previous post, is up to constant debate. Personally, I don't see how the mileage can't go down, it just doesn't make any sense regardless what others say. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, just that simply more power requires more fuel. How can I go from 260 stock hp to almost 400 blown hp and not use more gas. I get maybe 10 or 11 mpg. That's down from 15. Personally I think it's worth it. The truck has serious power now like it's supposed to. Whether you go with a twin screw or a centrifugal, you'll love the power gains.

But what about the blower whine and the looks, those have to be factors in the selection.
