My suggestion is to do some research on the forums here, starting with the Chips and Tuners forum. Reliable and safe tuneing is the place to start.

Yes, the Net has created quite the candy store. I had a Powerdyne BD-11a which I ran for about 6 months, and two months ago swithched to a Paxton Novi 2000. I like the Paxton a lot, but my truck is the lightest if the 97'+ models. IMO a big truck with more weight would do better with a pos dis s/c like the Whipple, Magnacharger, or the Rousch to get more low end power.
Here's a good thread, but it may require some editing.

i have the vortech on my 05 screw.at this point im not so happy with it(blown motor at 12psi-bad horrible tune).when i first put it on with the factory preditor tune it was a pretty good gain but then i started messing with it.if you decide on the vortech take it somewhere and get it tuned by some1 that knows what he's doing, another thing is get a egt gauge so you can see whats going on.and if its not re-geared for the bigger tires make shure and do that also

you can definatly feel it but i really couldnt tell you cause it definatly needed a custom tune.the low end was crappy until about 3 grand then it picked up fast but my buddy has the procharger kit and a custom tune and that thing moves like no other from dead stop to 100.

F-j150,
So there is a definate lack in low end with a centrifical displacement Blower...that makes me reconsider my choice since you have first hand experience...

get a roots or twinscrew, (allan, whipple, roush)
i have a vortech on an 01 screw and yes it is faster , but the 60 ft times are not effected and pulling a travel trailer, the vortech offers no help unless it is a passing situation.

Depending on what the heads will flow, you might be able to pulley that S-trim to make 18psi, it is a potent little blower. At 18psi, even with a built block make sure you have a spot on tune, otherwise you will be building another block.

Yeah those s-trims will pull 18-20lbs, lots of the 4.6 stangs are doing that and getting well over 500rwhp..
