larger or smaller blower

if the main reason to by a blower is the low end torque would you be better off with the bigger voloumn version of a kenny bell or the smaller?i dont care for peak horse power but i want good power from 2000 rpm to about 4500.i like a good 50 mph to 100 blast everyonce and awhile instead of a standing start blast.will the smaller version really get 50 hp over a eaton blower?

A smaller blower will typically be in its efficiency range at a lower boost level so it will give a better low-end, but this is not always true. Call Kenne Bell and find out where each blower hits its sweet spot and choose the one closer to what you are looking for.

What about a centrify. The Procharger is known for more for top end speed. I thought if you wanted low end, go roots style and top end, go centrifigul. May be wrong, but that's what I've gotten out of some post. I'll say mine is pretty cool from a 60 kick to 100+. 100 is all I register but I've seen it take a while to come off of it Don't take long to get there either.

Good Luck

Hmmm...you're sorta mixing it up even though you say you just want low-end.

1. I'm not sure that's the main reason for a blower. There are different types of blowers to give more on top or on bottom, so depending on what you are looking for you can choose what is right for you.

I chose a Procharger because it was used and cheap.
But...my truck had nothing beyond 3000rpm, everything was low-end swhen it was stock (though nothing to write home about). So I like the Procharger because it gave me what my truck lacked. I did put 4.10s in to keep the revs up a bit, that really helped.

2. Roots/twin-screw will boost hard at 2000rpm...centrifugal will be stronger at 4500rpm IHMO and will continue to pull harder and harder until it shifts.

3. If that's what you like then a centrifugal may be for you. That's the speed range where peak hp will really keep things interesting. Not to say other types of blowers won't pull hard at this rpm.

4. Standing start blast goes to the roots, up until speeds escalete, at which point the top-end of the centrifugal should give it the advantage.

But it's all relative. On a properly set-up system, I don't think you'll find too many people complaining about their blower no matter what kind they have.

i guess i should have told that its a lightning and i want to up grade to a kenny bell.since they have 2 sizes i wanted to make sure i didnt by more than i need.since torque gets you moving i didnt want to buy the big one and maybe lose a little low emd torque just to get more peak horsepower.the reason i like a 50 to 100 mph blast is because of traction problems.1 and 2 gear full throtle just smokes the tires.and here i am trying to make it worse by adding more power.but i love it.

Yeah if you already have an L then stick to the KB or a Whipple IMHO.
