I am looking to install a super charger on my '01 4.6. However I am concerned with stock compression ratio, and the mileage on my motor. Is it risky doing a supercharger install on a motor with almost 70k on it? I dont want to kick a rod out of the pan, burn pistons or anything would I be better off doing a rebuild prior to bolting on a blower? Or am I over worrying it and should I just bolt on the power?
I just put a Procharger on mine...currently 73,000 and running great. I got a full 1-1/2 seconds off the 1/8th. It will be more in the 1/4 since the centrifiguls are top end blowers. I bought the kit off ebay for 1,600 and it came with the big injectors and mass air. I guess I got aroung 2,800-3,000 after the e-fans, tranny kit and other. I'll tell ya it's great to know I can stay right on the bumber of a Dodge SRT V10
I added my powerdyne at 93000 miles, then added the intercooler injectors maf and tune with exhaust efans and so forth and have no issues. Bought the blower on ebay for $1200, built the intercooler piece by piece for about $400, injectors were $200, fans were $400, about $3000 in the whole getup.
