Try searching around on ebay for s/c's. It will give you some idea of general price. A third centri to consider would be Vortech.

I just recently installed the powerdyne kit on my 01 5.4 supercrew. Got the kit brand new for only $1500 shipped to my door. For the price and ease of installation you cant beat it. Sure, other kits like the procharger and vortec make more power out of the box, but thats because they produce more boost and come with intercoolers I believe. But, they are also more expensive. If your budget will allow it, I would go with a procharger kit, but the powerdyne is a good entry level blower with future upgradeability. Some members on this forum have adapted an aftercooler setup to work with the powerdyne and are making good power numbers. If you want to increase the boost on the powerdyne you could always get a smaller pulley, which is what I'm considering doing now, but it will void the warrenty. I've also upgraded my fuel delivery system with 42# injectors, 255 walbro pump, and 90mm Maf with base tune from troyer performance. I get a solid 5lbs from my stock powerdyne. One thing with centri blowers is they don't have the low end grunt like the screw type or roots style blowers. They are kind of like turbos I guess, you have to wait for them to spool up before you start building boost. Really not the best if your looking for that off the line, tire smoking, power.

I've got the Procharger in my truck and I love it. It makes a nice whistling sound at low rpms, barely hear it at highway speeds. I got mine from Crash but he's nolonger around but you could talk to Mark at Skidmark racing. You'll find him on this site. The installation is clean and fairly simple for an average gearhead. You'll need bigger fuel inj. and MAF. The inline fuel pump will be adequate for none racing applications. It's worth the $$$ IMO.

I bought it from fairway sport and performance in california. They had an auction on ebay for several new kits they had from a big purchase they made from powerdyne for $1500 a kit. I was looking for awhile and the cheapest i've seen them before that was $2500 and I thought you can't beat the price, so I called them and ordered my kit right away, and a week later it was at my door. Here is a website with come contact info, you might want to give them a call and see if they have any powerdyne kits left. I bought mine a couple months ago, so I'm not sure if pricing is the same or if they have any left.

I paid $4200 for the complete kit. I've seen it cheaper on Ebay. Ebay makes me a little nervous when buying big ticket items, don't know if I can trust them, but that's just me. Buying from a dealer isn't always the cheapest way to go, but I didn't have to worry about anything and they helped me with the install. That's worth alot to me.

i think i am just goin to buy the powerdyne because it will be my first s/c. One more question... how does it with the s/c campare to the stock truck? could you really feel a difference or would i be better off with just a programmer and headers and little stuff like that? I guess what i am tryin to ask is if the supercharger will give me more power than the programmer and other stuff like that? thanks.

The programmers might get 15-20 extra hp. that's barely noticable. Superchargers will get you closer to 100 extra hp depending on the charger itself. That's very noticable. I once used the Superchips micro tuner on my truck and the change was hard to feel as far as hp. but I could change the tranny shift points and pressure, that was great.

I bought a Powerdyne kit for $ 2,000, and quickly added another $ 2,000 to it.
Your best bet is to do a lot of research, reading the posts here and using the search function. This type of modification is more of a journey than just an installation, and the spending never stops.

If you just put on the stock kit with fmu, you'll probably get an extra 30-50rwhp depending on weather conditions. You can't feel all that much of a difference on the bottom end, since it is a centrifical style blower, but once you get the rpms past say 3000 when the boost starts to build, you can feel the extra push of the boost. My powerdyne puts out 5psi of boost at about 5300 rpms, and you dont get all of it right away, its got to build. I'm now highly considering a smaller pulley so I see more boost sooner in the rpm range. Regardless, boost is better than no boost so If you can get the kit as cheap as I did, then its worth it. If I had to pay $2500 for a kit then I probably would of not bought it. The real disadvantage to the powerdyne kit is that they do not include or have an option to put an intercooler on it, any intercooler you put on would have to be custom made and adapted to the kit. So, if you want to up the boost and be safe from detenation then you would have to do a custom intercooler or run water/meth injection. They also do not come with a boost bypass valve, so if you increased the boost you would have to get one of those also.

Does you truck all the stock components such as, intake, exhaust, belt driven fan? If so, you can spend less $$ and pick up 30+ hp. Get a cold air intake, low restriction exhaust, bigger pipes are better, and get rid of that belt driven fan and clutch and get dual electric fans. Just the fans alone you might pick-up 10-15 hp. Just make the truck breathe better. Onelowf is right, S/C's can lead to more $$$ than you realize. You can do all the above for about $1000. or so and gain 30-40 hp and some torque. You'll notice the difference and hear it to.
