Whipple installed... yea baby!

Hey guys, they tried to move the speed limiter to 125 for me but apparantly the ford tune won't allow it. With the limiter, i was stll restricted to low 4300 rpm range before it shut down, even in a higher gear pull. We got around 410 ft/lbs and 347 rwhp. I would most likely be in the 380's in the higher rpm's. It looks like an aftermarket tuner is the only way to get rid of that speed limiter, so I'm SOL since I don't want to go that route. It's probably for the best though, I could get in some serious trouble with this thing.

All I can say about the truck now is YEA BABY! I mashed on it a few times from a stop, but it is more fun to go about 3/4 on the pedal and feel it build. The sound is awesome! Our inagural run was on Las Vegas Blvd with hundreds or thousands of NASCAR fans roaming around, and we played a little there, when we could. I had a mustang GT give me a flash of the headlights from behind at around a 30mph roll. I had a car in front of me, and just cleared the car in the lane next to me, so I got on it, spun the rear, fishtailed it into the other lane and took off like a 3 ton bat outta hell. That got the blook pumpin!

Unfortunately I didn't get there when they did the dyno run, they were just pulling it out of the garage. Traffic was insane trying to get to the speedway. Air fuel is right on around 11.8 accross the board, and the guys at the performance shop were impressed with the hp numbers and especially the torque, which is almost always above 400 ft/lbs.

The printer ran out of ink on the dyno, so I couldn't get a print out. I'll go back when they open up on Tuesday and they'll save it to a zip drive for me. I can't tell you what the exact numbers are, but the hp went from 224 @ ~5500 to 347 @ ~4300.

I thought I'd start up my own post instead of get lost on page 3 of somebody elses.

GREAT! Now we know that 4wd eats up about 10 HP and 10 torque. Thats not so bad either!

If you replace the drive shaft then you can raise the speed limiter.......These are trucks not Cobras.

05roush,
Looks like not only is your truck looking good, it is also running good. Maybe if I can convince my boss to let me bring the F150 to my marathon in June, we can run the two trucks. How far is Anchorage from Fairbanks? Glad to hear you are enjoying your supercharger.

Isn't the Lightning drive shaft the same material as the regular F150? I know it's shorter and no boubt balanced for higher speeds. 99 and 00 used steel, 01-04 aluminum.

I'm planning on taking the driveline in and having it beefed up some. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to 10psi and doing a custom tune, and I'd like to be able to play with it and not have to worry.

for you whipple guys: i just read this on got-pressure. 2V 5.4 guy dynoed his truck after adding mark's turbo. 390/489 at 8# boost.

maybe mark will get the 3V version soon...........start salivating

That's impressive for a 2V! The guys at the install shop specialize in turbo, and with their custom turbo's, they make 490RWHP and 600 Ft/lbs of torque on a stock lightning motor!

I went back today and got my dyno sheet. 4300 RPM was when the speed limiter kicked in, and you can see I was at 347/409. Almost 130HP gain and if I can get the speed limiter removed, I'm pretty sure I'll be 375-385 RWHP. If Whipple won't up the speed limiter for me, I plan to do the 10psi and custom tune, but I'd much rather stick with the Whipple tune. He said air/fuel was actually in the upper 11's throughout, even though the chart indicates low 12's. He said it is right in line where it needs to be.

Anyhow, here's the chart...

I'm a little confused. If they got you stock numbers up to 5300RPM, they should be able to get you numbers for your SC setup up to 5300rpm. The Whipple and Roush kits both keep the stock speed limiter. They must have dynoed the truck in 2nd when it was stock, why not dyno it in 2nd when it was modified? The losses would be a little higher but it would still give you an idea of the performance increase right?

Sounds like she is running strong either way!

I guess I can see why Whipple and Roush have kept the stock speed limiter! Man, I need one of these!

Lonestar, Anchorage is 365 miles south of Fairbanks, but an easy drive on the Parks highway. Are you guys planning on coming up then? I'll be in Vegas till May, then we'll be driving back to Fairbanks starting on the 14th. It should take us 4 days to go the 3650 miles.

If you make it up to Fairbanks I can take you for a spin in my other speed demon, the predator
