To be clear, the MP112 is approx. a 1.8 liter compressor and has to turn over 3000rpm more to even equal the same CFM flow as the Whipple W140ax compressor. In general, it takes more energy to turn the supercharger faster. They also typically create more heat.

The 180 deg rear inlet is over 120mm at it's thinest point, there is no loss there. There is also no jack shaft/power loss. Our system is tuned for reliable every-day power, whether your in Havasu Az. or Anchroage Alaska. To note, we also modify the inner fender well, as we increase the size of the opening to help air flow. I noticed this other system is sucking through the stock hole.

They're both great systems, but I'm more than confident that the Whipple will make a noticable power gain over this system. The screw compressor is more efficient, I would love nothing more than to have some type of shoot-out, dyno or 1/4 mile so we can show the true difference. We've already made over 800rwhp on a modified motor so potential power is also there.

Thanks,
Dustin

Dustin, I went ahead with the Whipple for my ride since it is available, and from what I've been reading up on, they are more reliable and efficient than most other brands. Not to say other brands aren't capable of putting out reliable numbers, but I am comfortable with the Whipple name.

I've got a couple of questions if you don't mind. Should I upgrade my stock fuel pump and/or injectors with my Whipple? I am going with the stock Whipple tune. How will this unit work in 50+ below temperatures? Anchorage doesn't get that cold but Fairbanks sure does, and that's home for me. I can't wait to get the unit installed! Silver State Motorsports in Vegas is doing the install on the 7th of March, and I'll post before and after dyno numbers.

You have to realize the humor in that, you live in Alaska! I need to change my expression to fairbanks then

If your truck is stock and an 05' or 06', no headers and your going to run our standard pulley, then stick with the stock injectors. If you have an 04', or you have some other mods and plan on changing the pulleys at sometime, then I would go with the 39lb/hr cobra injectors for this application. I'm assuming it will get somewhere near 0 deg F in Fairbanks. You will be making an insane amount of HP with those temps, thats for sure! Make sure to run a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water for the IC system, as you'll be reaching below freezing temps. Normally, in places such as Vegas, we use an 80/20 distilled to coolant mixture, but not in Alaska.

The tune has been tested to 20 deg F and has been extrapolated for temps below that. But if you go with the larger injectors, the tune will need to be modified to accomadate that. So to sum it up, since your on the borderline of the injectors due to your climate, if you have any changes, then I would go with the larger injectors and custom tune.

Thanks,
Dustin

Rafa26, what other mods do you have to your engine?

You should all go with the Autolite HT0 spark plug though, that will help with detonation and increased HP levels. There somewhat hard to find, so let me know if you have trouble, I have some coming in within a few days.

Thanks,
Dustin

Dustin, 0 degrees is a hot day. In Fairbanks we routinely see temperatures of 35 below zero, and several weeks per year we get 50 below and colder. I have an engine block heater, battery warmer, transmission fluid warmer and several other mods that "winterized" my truck. I've got a cool plug zip tied to the front tow hook to plug them all in when it dips outside. I thought you knew I was from Alaska when you said Havasu to Anchorage. I'm Las Vegas to Fairbanks, pretty close all around.

I only have the Roush Offroad Exhaust, and don't plan on modifying the truck any more. Am I going to run into problems at these extreme cold temperatures? I am building a house this year, and hopefully will be done by the time it gets too cold out, but I will be driving in extreme cold at times. Until the house is done, I park outside.

Just what I need with more horses at colder temperatures. I should be spinning around nicely on the ice now.

Rafa26, your just find with the stock injectors as long as your cool with 8psi and 400rwhp. If you want to get near 450 and 10psi, then you need to go with the 39lb injectors and a custom tune.

Thanks,
Dustin

Wow, thats really, really cold. I'm at home now, but I'll run this info by our calibration team to get the best recomendation. I'll get back to you tomorrow and let you know the best direction for this extreme temperature range.

I think were going to have to look into offering studded tires with our SC package because you are going to be all over the road!

Dustin, after reading my mods you agree that i don't have to change anything on my fuel system ? My other question is, you said that if we use a smaller pulley to get 10 psi the rwhp will jump from 400 to 450 ? Isn't too much just for a 2 psi increase ? Thanks again and i am very happy with Whipple all over the forum...

Thanks Dustin. Since I have 22's for summer, my stock 18's are going to be studded for winter tires. Quite common where I live actually. If you guys want to donate a supercharger I can do some cold weather testing for you. Of course it might just consist of sticking my tongue to the supercharger and seeing if it sticks.

I got word yesterday from Lethal Performance that the supercharger isn't going to ship until next week, so I guess I'm backordered. Should I be concerned about not getting this supercharger in before the first week of March? I'll need to let the install shop know since they are expecting me.

the one thing about s/c's and cold weather is they can be deadly to your motor...you dont want to hammer it hard if you are running alot of timing...here in Fargo I take out a few degs of timing so that if I do go WOT my boost wont kill the engine with sub zero temps...most of the time I cant get traction anyway even in 4x4

Can you explain me a little bit why the sub-zero temperatures can kill the engine ?? Thanks.
