Need some guidance
First, Let me say that this board is the best online resource Ive found by far! Glad Ive found it!
I could really use some guidance or suggestions on what to do with my 1999 Lariat F150. It has the 5.4L and an auto trans. I would love to Supercharge this truck. What are my best options considering the following....
1. I will NOT be racing this truck
2. This truck is only driver about 5 miles a day on average
3. Im just looking for more power to leave the stop light quicker or pass others on the freeways.
4. Cost is an issue (If it werent, I would just buy a Lightning)
5. Maintenance is an issue. I love working on my truck and keeping it clean, but I dont want to be tunning the hell out of it on my offs days just to keep it running correctly.
Thanks!

Really If i were you and reading what you posted i would just find the best deal on a used kit. Most of the big names are reliable at low boost and a used kit would be pennies on the dollar. If you can maintain your composure and not want more like 90% of us do you shouldn't have a problem with even a powerdyne or Vortech.. That is my opinion. But... Go buy a lightning setup and call Mike Dunn At Madenterprise for about $3500 you'll have more than you can stand and OEM quality..
brahmus,
Thanks for the reply. On the Lightning setup...What are the differences in my 99 5.4l and the Lightnings 5.4l other than the Supercharger? Ive read a few long threads about this, but couldnt find out that info. That route seems to be the prefered on this board.

Well i'm biased but here goes... The Lightning motor has different pistons with lower compression. This allows them to run more boost but the weak points in these 5.4's are the rods. Longest production motor and that much torque, snap.. But that isn't till 450/500 rwhp. You should have PI heads, check. I think the cams are different but i'm not sure! you'd have to verify.
SBR,
Approximately how much are you willing/able/can afford to spend? That will narrow down your choices. $5000? $3500? $2000?
From what I have experienced, seen, read, and heard for the past three years, if I had a 5.4, I would jump at the chance to get the lightning intercooled supercharger assembly. Most of the work is already done if you already have a 5.4 and the rest is just adding an ordinary kit. It has too much quality, options and power.
But to be honest, any forced induction system at any boost level will wake up your F150 and be loads of fun. Good Luck.
