Powerdyne improved since 2003?

I was almost ready to start a supercharger project with a Powerdyne SC for my 2003 F150 Screw 4.6L 4x2. I am looking for a little extra trailer towing and a little fun in normal driving. Not going to smoking the tires.

I just read several reviews from some very unhappy customers. Complaints were everything from bearings to broken internal belts to very poor customer service. All of these reviews were written mid 2003. Here is the link:

Any current Powerdyne users have good, bad or other feedback? Would you go this route if you had it to do over?

Thanks

I have a powerdyne on my 2001 4.6 supercrew For the money it isn't a bad unit. It is very quiet was very easy to install 5 hr will do it. when it fails I have a back up head unit can be purchased cheap easy to rebuild takes less than an hour and you can have it off and on in 20 minutes. I am running a smaller pulley and am thinking of adding more boost. I have installed an intercooler. The design is good but the manufacturing leaves a little to be desired I don't think that the bearings are as much at fault as they are blamed for, it's the poor shaft machining Which can be fixed easily. As far as tech help you may as well speak to you're dog atleast you won't end up pissed off, but you can find out anything you need to know on this sight. Parts are avalable.
If you want max performance ditch the FMU and get a performance tune. All in all I enjoy making something work that other people don't care for.WLF will probly chime in hear and hopefully agree.

I certainly agree.
You have to be sure of what you want. A centrifugal blower will not help you break the tires loose. It will provided plenty of top end, a place where these engines are lacking. Personally I'm embarrassed when I burn rubber but that's me.
I would say if your handy the go ahead. If your not handy, think about it a little more.
I know I can handle a rebuild without problem. As far as ease of install; today I changed out my plugs (installed Denso's) and I was able to remove the entire supercharger, change the plugs and reinstall in less time then it took the first time I changed the plugs on this truck.
If you want a plug and go without having to think about it then perhaps another, more expensive system is best.
You have already read everything I had to say about this blower. When I took it off today, I checked out the head unit and it's nice and tight so it should be good for a long while yet.
I have made a lot of modifications but that's just how I am, never satisfied. Not counting all the "look good" stuff, I have still spent less then a used Procharger.
Good luck with your decision and most of all, have fun...

Oh and to be more specific to your question, Powerdyne switched to a better quality impeller shaft bearing last fall. I guess they got tired of repairing failed bearings.
The customer service is more apathetic then poor. They did repair my head unit when it failed. I had to pay shipping to them but they paid everything else including return shipping. I bugged the ****ens out of them and got it back in under three weeks. I also called the seller first, that puts more preassure on Powerdyne to respond appropriately.

Crash, the aftercooler exits directly into the TB. I have the IAT tapped into the exit on the aftercooler. I will put a picture up later. I rerouted the bypass (made it shorter) and put a new elbow to the air filter which makes the transition from the 4" MAF to the 3 1/2" blower intake within the silicone elbow. It's much cleaner (but black so doesn't match ).
Right now this thing is running great.
