Question 2001 supercrew 5.4

Can anyone tell me what the best supercharger for my truck would be.(2001 F150 Supercrew 5.4) and how much hp and torque would I gain. Thanks.

Re: 2001 supercrew 5.4

Whew... can o' worms #4,509 being opened there...

I predict at least 5 different "best ones" will be mentioned!

Man, I debated for 8 months before deciding on the ProCharger. I have a 2002 SCrew 5.4L 4X4.

Low end vs. top end... tq curves vs. power curves... most power below 3500... most power above 3500... you'll hear alot of opinions on that.

I saw a 2001 SuperCrew 4X2 (w/ a ProCharger, fuel mods, and 12# pulley) run an 8.95 in the 1/8 last week.

I'm real happy with my ProCharger but undoubtedly would have been just as happy with an Eaton or simlar. No regrets from me!

Personally, I'd say just be sure you get one with an intercooler and be sure you get a good tune!

Oh, mine dyno'd at 338RWHP and 388TQ with a 9# pulley. I've since added e-fans and a 12# pulley (and a better tune!). I'm sure the #'s are higher but I haven' tbeen back to the dyno.

I *probably* am about 150hp??? over the stock #'s at the rear wheels but that's a guess.

I'm running a ProCharger setup too. Overall it's pretty good. Not the best fit and finish but it does what it's supposed to do. Take quite a bit extra to really get the most out of them though. Tuning, dealing with intake restrictions, transmission upgrades, fuel system upgrades....adds a bit to the overall price tag.

we'll i'll be the first to go against the grain. I did the lightning swap and am very pleased overall i'd say it could be done for $3500. I chose the roots for its off idle instant torque. Now it does fall as the rpm goes up but i don't drag. the procharger is a good product but it should be pointed out that is is a cent and performs with rpm so while the peak#s might be higher and continue to climb with rpm it is the area under the graph that counts. Whatever you do, do lots of research and decide for yourself what is best for what you do.

im not braggin about my setup at all...Im just showing how the hp/tq curve is on a Procharger...It all depends on what kind of curve you want..steady curve like a turbo or a climbing curve like a Procharger or a peak and drop off like a screw/roots

Hey Raider. How much did it cost to get your IC tubes and bracket powder coated or is that paint?

Hey brahmus,
I don't understand the sig... do you have a Lightning engine in your truck?

And a race built 4r70??? I'm asking that because I'm considering a new tranny for my truck and wonder where you got your tranny. There's a company out of Louisiana that builds "race ready" 4r70s for $1895 shipped... but I haven't found anyone that has actually installed one yet.

If that's an L motor, did you have to swap the harnesses out?

Thanks.

Yes it is an 04 L motor. mine had a bad head and 120K and i knew i was gettin blown so i opted for the L motor with the lower compression. The harness came with the blower i picked up on ebay but i believe adam did the swap with the N/A wiring harness and some modifications. The tranny was built by a local tranny shop i did the research and upgraded what seems to fail in these things. A cyrogenically (sp) hardened intermediate shaft, art carr upgraded clutch pack with extra clutches, FTVB, Art carr converter, and extra cooler on the way when things start warming up. The tranny builder said she should hold together for a while as long as i watch the temps which i do with an autometer tranny gauge. so far no problems. I figure if i can get a year or two out of the tranny i'll opt for a monster box. if they can build these things to handle 1K hp out of a mustang then why swap to a 4r100 unless you stumble across a deal like Kel67

How about some comparisons (dyno graphs) of what is going on BELOW 2500 rpm?

it is hard to get because the dyno is in 3rd gear and to prevent downshifting the pull has to be down above 3k. i would like to lock the tranny into third and do the pull but i don't know anyone around here that can.

I've tried the Allen M90 kit and now I have converted to the Lightning M112 assembly. And,,Apten ported blower.
Big "wow" factor with the new setup.
