Kenne Bell Users inside

I have had my KB for a few months now but I just noticed a slight noise a idle. It sounds like a small rattling noise. I pulled the belt off and it went a way. Then I used a piece of hose to listen while running and its defenitely coming from the KB. Is this normal????

What you are hearing is normal. Most roots type blowers "rattle" at idle although very faint. Some people can't even hear it. My brother-in-law's 03 Cobra even rattles at idle with the Eaton.

Get Bassani - You won't hear any little noises then!

Oil level is fine. The oil was between both lines with the cap screwed all the way down.

Again, I hear that noise on all roots type chargers that I have ever come across. It should go away with the least amount of throttle and make a smooth normal blower sound. Open the hood while it's running and pull on the throttle cable. If it was anything major the sound would only get worse, not better.

I too have a Kenne Bell; over 30K miles on it - it has always rattled at idle, although very faint. I wouldn't worry about. Just keep checking the oil level and only use 20W50 Synthethic Mobile oil.

How often do you change it and are you sure this is the oil to use?

I change the oil every 12K miles specified by Kenne Bell. I spoke to Jim Bell and he said to only use 20W50 Synthetic Mobile oil. Make sure to monitor the oil level - it's not documented!
