4.2L supercharger
Ya know, I was sitting here reading the threads and got an idea. If someone would come up with an upper intake for our 4.2L motors that would mount the Eaton M-90 supercharger (the same one on the T-bird, and I think the Pontiac Bonneville) wouldn't there be quite a few people interested? I know I would invest in it. I have always liked the Roots look, and appreciated the fact that if the SC failed the engine could still run. I'm not sure if the same is true about the centrifugal SC. Does anyone out there have any tech data (specs, drawings, tech details, etc) about the Eaton M-90 and/or the 4.2L engine? I know that a complete setup would take more than the upper intake (wiring harness, control electronics, pulley, belt, etc) but an intake would be one heck of a start. Really, I'm tired of digging and digging for performance parts for this great engine and coming up with next to nothing nothing. Any takers?

I know I am going to get blasted for this but I am currently working on an M90 system for my 4.6L based on the 3.8L supercharger intake off early 90's T-birds.
There is a company called Magnum Powers that makes high performance parts to fit the intake for the 3.8L fords and this system has put out 400+ hp in the 3.8 trim. I like the fact that it is mounted upside down and can be used with an air to air intercooler. I also like the price of the parts which are readily available on E-bay in used but good condition. The intake is set up with a bypass valve and I think I can adapt it to fit my 4.6 intake since it essentially will blow thru like a centrifugal system. I already have a new Eaton M90 Gen III that I bought for a steel at $250. I also have an x-tra intake for my engine with all the TB stuff. the ported intake stuff from magnum powers is gong to cost about another $800 but initially I am going to use the factory stuff ported for my engine and replace as I can afford. I will need to fabricate a custom platform to mount the supercharger system and then I will be shopping pullies and drive belts.
I don't know if I can make this work but I am pretty handy and have friends to help with the fabrication. If not, there is not much invested and I will have an x-tra M-90 SC for future use. I can’t afford the close to $4000 for a new system besides; I like the challenge for doing my own fabrication. Keep in mind that initially I am only looking for about 4-6lbs of boost. I want to keep my current motor in one piece until I can finish my replacement (only need forged pistons to finish the bottom end).
I will keep you posted. I am hoping for help on these boards when I need advise. There are some very knowledgeable guys here doing some amazing stuff with boost.

Sounds like you are on the same track as I am but with a different motor. I'm getting a little ticked off due to the fact that the 4.2L has almost NO GOFAST PARTS AVAILABLE! My web searching keeps coming up with the same reults - NADA!
Keep us posted on your successes with your S/C fabrications, there are a lot of brilliant people on this site. They could possibly give you some advice/encouragement.
Hopefully, I'll be able to find the tech specs (dimensions, measurements, etc) for the 4.2L lower intake (without buying one from FORD) and then I'll be able to start fabbing the M-90 to 4.2L adapter. I think the M-90 will work like a charm on my little six-banger.

you might wanna head over to http://www.***********/ Those guys are dedicated to your engine, the moderator there, Talleywacker, i think has been banned from this site so he doesnt hang around anymore but he knows quite about the 4.2. Last i remember he ran a 14.1 N/A with a 75 shot. He is at 270 hp and 380 torque i think.

Crash has a supercharger for the 4.2 too.
Also there is another site that has one that can basically fabricate what you need to the 4.2 you can get it intercooled or not....

Yeah I know, I'm too lazy to even log into that one. My really long SN uses all the 16 characters allowed by AOL. At home I just have the password saved and just click Sign On
