supercharger for 2003 Expedition??
supercharger for 2003 Expedition??
Hey everyone
Got a new Expedition this year - great truck but not enough power in the 5.4L for towing 6,000 lb trailer decently (no matter that Ford says about a towing capacity of 8,600 lbs).
Wondering two things:
1) Does a supercharger give much power increase down in the 2,000 - 2,500 rpm range? This is about where the truck runs at 60 mph with the overdrive off so this is where I need more power for holding speed on hills and passing slower vehicles.
2) Does anyone make a supercharger for the 2003 Expedition? The engine is probably the same as 2002 but it does have a different computer. But perhaps that does not matter at normal boost levels if I have an FMU?
I like what I have read about the Procharger product but have not been able to figure out if they have a kit for 2003.
Thanks for any and all advice and info!!

The ATI is a great way to go. I rarely down shif in OD going up a hill with my ATI but even a chip will help keep you in OD on a hill. I can bring it to about 2 to 2.5 lbs of boost part throttle and that is more than enough to tackle most highway hills without down shifts. Yes, most supercharger manufacturers make kits for the 2003, Magna, KB, and ATI all have you covered.
Not sure what you're towing, but I tow a boat that will weight anywhere form 7200-7500 lb's and mine does great! You with a 2003 have the same engine, you have an advantage with a 3:73 vs my 3:55 rear, but a disadvantage with more weight so could be a wash.
If you're only towing 6000lbs and it's just the power, you should be able to improve that with a few bolt on's.
I suprise people with how quick I can get this thing moving and keep it moving. Oh and I DO tow in OD all the time without any problem!
