Finally Blown!
I finally was able to finish up my ATI install!!. It's been in limbo
for a little over 9 months. I initially installed everything but
the boost-a-pump, and fmu back in September of last year.
Shortly thereafter my wife had complications with her pregnancy,
such that she couldn't walk. Needless to say, the ATI went on
the backburner.
June, we had our baby girl, healthy, my wife is recovering well,
so I had a little time to finish the job!
So far so good. I've put about 40 miles on it, no sign of belt
wear, and the belt seems to be staying on. I used a 1/8" bigger
spacer on the lower mount. I'm able to make about 9 lbs of boost, when the RPM's are up there (4500 - 5000). I removed the superchip that I had on before, and I really miss it.
Now it shifts way to early for my liking
My first impressions are that you really don't notice it for
normal driving. The only way you feel something is when
you stomp on it, after about 3000 rpm it starts ramping up
the boost nicely. Any you can see the FMU doing its job, when
the fuel pressure rises along with the boost.
I still need to install the S&B filter, 42lb injectors, 90mm MAF,
and 12lb pulley. I also have a chip from JDM which will supposedly work with the above mods.
Would it be a big no-no to put my old superchip back on in the mean time? I figure it might if it advances the spark too much.
About how long does it take for the blower to quit chattering at
idle?
Also, what is the quickest way to change out the blower oil -- 500 miles will be here in no time.
All for now,
Bob

I remove the compressor unit. It seems to be the easiest. I wouldn't put the superchip back on. It will lean the mixture out and could cause detonation. I would recommend a shift kit. Transgo, Bauman, or replace the valve body. It is straight forward. The chatter will die down a little after about 1000 miles.
Enjoy,

Runair,
Glad to hear everythings OK now with your (new) family.
I bought all of my 12 psi upgrades from MAD, you can find him on the "Got Pressure" forum. He had everything I needed, decent prices and the best service I have run into in a long time.
Only prob I had was that he doesn't yet take credit cards but I sent him a money order and he shipped my parts the same day he got the MO (I checked via a delivery confirmation).
I went with a Factory Tech valve body and see that he has those now too. I love the way it shifts and I had to call Gregg Evans when I had an install question, he took the time to answer my stupid questions, another really cool guy.
