Lightning Supercharger
I believe that it is possible to "fit" it on there. It has been done. The question is, is it practicle when there are a few real good aftermarket kits out there designed to "fit"?
Here are links to a couple previous threads on this topic. It's a good place to start.
L blower on my F150
really dumb thought about lightning s/c
Good luck!

I have read about all the problems with this swap, but If I can get the whole top half from a lightning motor with wiring etc. Than I would rather intall this system. My truck has the right trans.
Other supercharger kits do not have the bigger fuel injectors, Mas, etc.

HI!... SLAMMED : Just remember that the 4R-100 tranny you have isn't even close to the LIGHTNING's 4R-100 tranny. Same case but that's about it. FORD makes many different versions of the 4R-100 tranny. The LIGHTNING gets the strongest in the gas case. Your 4R-100 behind your 5.4 is just the basic model. The LIGHTNING's 4R-100 gets most of it's internals from the DEISEL's 4R-100 tranny and some extra's that SVT through into it. If your going to install a LIGHTNING SC set-up on your regular 5.4 I would strongly advise you to pull your 4R-100 tranny and have a *RACE* rebuild done on it. If not, it won't last long behind the extra torque. IMO.
OK all this talk about 4R100 in a 97 is a bit puzzling since the 97 w/5.4 has a E4OD trans. So are the E4OD and the 4R100 the same trans. with only differant numbers or what?

HI!... yes basically the E40D and the 4R-100 are the same, just minor upgrades to the newer version 4R-100. The AOD-E and the 4R70-W are also basically the same except for small upgrades.
If you are only installing the blower and intake, fuel rails, etc., why is it necessary to replace the wiring harness or EEC? Seems the few things that are different from a stock setup are easily worked around with a chip, individual relays, or eliminated.
To have the SC act as a stand alone application, like an aftermarket bolt-on:
The Barometric Pres. sensor is not needed.
Bypass valve solenoid power from new relay.
The IAT2 sensor can be placed in the lower manifold, removed from the pre-MAF area, and tuned for in the chip.
Charge air cooler pressure sensor ?? A simple temp sensor and relay to control the intercooler water pump.
Just some observations. I have not done this.

I have said this before, I will say it again:
Here is the instructions: Don't waste your time and money.
You need the entire upper of the motor, complete wiring harness, computer, tranny, new drive shaft, rear-end, change the exhaust, new tranny cross member, etc. and a ton of know how. I personally know one who has done it, and I have seen it for my own eyes. He is a ford mechanic, and said it was an incredible pain in the butt. As far as the L guys using a 4r70w, you have to have a drive shaft and a chip to fool the computer, because the 4r100 has additional sensors the 4r70 does not have, and so as soon as you try and drive it, you get check engine light, and the shifts are all over the place.
My advice, buy an aftermarket blower, or just buy a Lightning.
Look long and hard at the threads that have been linked above. svt_sc_f150 is my guy, and he knows what he is talking about.
