Power Dyne & Head unit

This is something I no nothing about,so take it easy on me.I want to ad some power to my 5.4.I was looking at the dodge hemi's and took one out for a test drive, there quick. But it's a dodge. If the lighting had a back seat there would be one in my driveway.Anyway.
What is the difference between a head unit which cost $1700.00 and up, or a Power Dyne Super Charger that is 3700.00.
Can you just install the head or must you install everything.
Also what does the lighting have under the hood.

To keep it simple- The Lightning has the 5.4 with a factory installed supercharger. If you want a 5.4 with higher factory horsepower in more than a regular cab, then the Harley Edition is available with more room and a slightly de-tuned Lightning engine and supercharger. If you want to install a supercharger on your NA 5.4, then you need a supercharger kit that includes the head unit and everything that it takes to install it. The head unit alone will not help you. Good Luck !!

I recently installed a Powerdyne SC... I did it myself in about 5 hours or so with a few beer and bathroom breaks.

You need to replace your harmonic balancer with the one in the kit. You need to relocate your power steering fluid reservoir onto an included bracket that bolts to the mounting studs for the master cylinder. You also need to slightly bend the oil dipstick tube down and kind of toward the driver's wheel well. Bending the dipstick tube was the hardest part I thought... Everything else bolts right on without any mods.

The only special tools you need is a harmonic balancer puller/installer and a fuel coupler tool. I rented the balancer tool for a day for $8 with a $20 deposit. I bought the coupler tool at a local auto parts store for $10. It's the same tool you need to change the fuel filter. The one I bought has about 6 different size tools for the different sized of couplers.

You also need a drill with a bit assortment since you need to drill a few small holes into the firewall and wheel well for screws that mount the fuel management unit and the new airbox that comes with the kit.

I didn't shop around to have anybody install it. Once I read the directions I felt pretty comfortable that most people could install it themselves.

I also received advice to change spark plugs at the time of installing the SC. I did that with factory Motorcraft plugs. I have had it installed for about 10k miles without any problems at all.

Hope this helps.
