MAFs and Superchargers Question
I am installing a magnacharger on my 97 5.4L next week and I am presently running a Granatelli MAF. My question is: would it be ok to run the Gran. MAF with the supercharger until I can get the truck dynoed and a custom chip burned or would it run to lean and cause detenation? I still have the stock MAF that I can put back on it but I don't want to give up the extra flow of the Gran. MAF if I don't have to.
Thanks ZYG. Yes it is calibrated for the stock injectors. I was hoping if the stock MAF would work with the charger so would the Granatelli. Does any know it the FMU's supplied with supercharger kits are adjustable?
I know the ATI is and I beleive most are. Most kits are designed to work out of the box with a stock truck so should have some way of adjusting the A/F.
On a side note, keep in mind the FMU boosts fuel pressure, usually based on boost, so that more fuel is forced through stock injectors. Boost takes time to build and hence a delay for fuel pressure to build etc. Blower setups with an FMU installed dont hold a candle to those that have larger injectors etc, the difference in throttle response is unreal.

I received my Kenne Bell Thursday and installed Saturday. The new KB kits now come with 34# injectors and no FMU - no additional charge. The kit also comes with 8 PSI pulley. Awsome, instant power! No detenation either at WOT; I'm using 93 octane too.
Thanks for all of the info guys. It is very helpful. The install starts tomorrow. Looking forward to the "kick in the pants performance increase". I'll give feed back after the initial test drive.
