hey crash...

I know you paid some guy in the past to make you a custom pulley... here is a chance to maybe get together an aftermarket part to help the HD community.

here's my brain on drugs:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=103357

And the moral of the story is: I am looking for a 9.4-9.5" lower pulley. I can get the exact numbers, but just wondering what your pulley company charged you for 2 or 3 custom aluminum pulleys...

Assuming that my math checks out, i'll have the exact numbers down to the 1000s shortly and I'm sure there are other HD owners that would want one.

I have gotten a "lukewarm" reception on this idea from the L community...

thanks

It isn't that it comes down to 1-2psi necessarily.

It is more that the HD is being sold L lower pullies with the assumption that X pulley is 2lbs less on the the HD than it is on the L.

So, in a perfect world this is what is *should* look like

Truck HD L

8.5" Pulley 4 2
9" pulley 6 4
10" pulley 8 10

It doesn't work out that way because of the ratios.

Instead, to get the 4 in the L right hand column, my pulley diameter needs to be 9.43" O.D.

Realistically, because of the difference in upper and the resulting differences in ratios, a different set of pullies for the HD is in order, assuming someone wishes to make a 2,4,6, and 8lb pulley for the HD setup.

If you want me to build a complete spreadsheet of ratios and give it to you, i would be happy to do so.

In the end, saying that a 6lb pulley on a HD adds 6lbs of boost would mean that we have 12, right? That would be the same as an L running a 4lb lower and the ratios are NOT the same and therefore are not producing the same blower RPMS which means that they are not rated appropriately for the HD.

there's the basic spreadsheet that shows rpms and ratios. to get 12lbs on an L (4lb lower) to match ratio and rpm wise, the HD needs a 9.428ish pulley.

Martin will do it and the price is about where I expected for a one off. Still debating whether or not to do it...
