Am I the First?
Am I the First?
I finally got around to installing the ATI on my 2002 Scab today and I can't believe that anyone else has made this unit fit out of the box on a truck like mine.
The two tubes or ducts that run down to the intercooler are about 3" short of connecting. I can see from the photos in the manual that the transmission cooler lines are different and I'm not sure but I don't think I see a steering idler arm bracket in the photo either. However, the problem goes deeper than that.
I had to move the intercooler down and back 1 1/2" each way in order to clear my Roush bumper cover. This helped but I still have a large gap between the ends of the 2 1/2" tube adapter pieces coming from the intercooler and the two 2 1/2" rubber elbows at the bottom end of the main tubes.
Fortunately I still have all of the pieces of stainless mandrel bends left over from my exhaust system so I'll do a little cutting and welding tomorrow
Anybody else have any input?

Sounds like me, anytime I order something, it never works out right for me. Just like you goto the store and the first box of whatever you want is beat to hell, so you grab the box from the back, and by the time you get home, you find out that there is something wrong with it, and you end up swaping it out for the damaged box. Thats always my luck, sounds like your situatuion.
Hey Madferraristi, When installing my intercooler, I had to modify the bolt hole locations on both ends of the mounting plate. I installed two Derale cooling fans on my intercooler and had to modify the two cooling brackets( tranny & steering) to allow the coolers to sit up vertical. Then I cut the standoffs in half and that solved my clearance problem with the fans. I am missing the top intercooler gasket but Skid has one for me. Anyway, when I get back from Texas, I will modify my shroud to fit the intercooler tubes once I have the gasket. As you know, I moved the Crown Vic fan to the outside of the shroud to clear the tubes. So far two of my problems were because I had non standards stuff on the truck as in .....fans. Good luck and I really want to see pictures of your install!
Without input from Crash and others I would have gone to a lot of work for nothing.
Based on their comments, I just pushed and shoved harder and 'voila', it all went together. Perhaps not as nicely as I would have liked but then I'm **** about some things.
It runs fine, looks decent (from the top), has boost and doesn't ping (up to 3500 wot, anyway).
Now to get busy and upgrade it all.
