Ground Force Shackles
Is it correct that because I have a 4x4 that i'm going to get an inch drop plus whatever extra loo choose to drop the truck? I've seen that mentioned somewhere. In other words, if I set the shock up for 1/2 inch of drop, it'll end up being 1 1/2 inches because its a 4x4.
Yes and no.
The switch to a 2WD strut gives you about an inch to start with. However, I assume that you removed the lifting blocks from the rear axle, correct?
Assuming that you did remove the lifting blocks, treat this process as if you have a 2WD and disregard any 4WD specifics. The only thing that really matters in a 4WD is how low it can go without the CV axles binding. With 2WD struts, you should be able to install them with two thick spacers without an issue. Extreme drops such as 3/5 (4/6 for 4WD) aren't safely possible.
If you didn't remove the lifting blocks from the rear, you should. Otherwise it's just counteracting the shackles.
Make sense?
