I wouldn't say the performance would be affected but it is possible for some of the air to transfer from one bag to the other since there would just be a tee between them. I'm sure it would be very minimal if any, and you'd probably need to do a pretty serious turn at a high speed to notice anything. Since you still have leaf springs and shocks, that would help prevent most of that. I hope this helps.

so would this set up with a 3/5.5 on a regular cab work, and allow me to pull a 16 ft toy hauler with i believe 250 lb tongue weight and a generator in the bed. i also have the weight distribution hitch set up. the other question is - how does air set up work, with the vibration issues i have been reading about. i was thinking with air assist i may be able to make a 3/4 drop while towing, but 3/5.5 normal driving.

Vibration have nothing to do with the helper bag. you need to have the driveline vibration taken take off first.

I tow a 23' toy hauler(750 to 1000 on tongue+generator, gaz can and spare rain wheel/tire in the front of the bed) with my 07 and 3/5 drop and slam air...And i ride leveled with the air bag filled at 100psi.(max)

Carried a 600lb generator the other day with no problems. Haven't gone with anything super heavy yet.

Skalywags: I have the same setup on my 07 and can tow the same as stock
I did ~500 (if not 600) in the bed + a 7k lbs toyhauler which is at least 900 on the tongue.(with WD hitch)
Not sure I'll redo the experience but the setup handle really well.

I do the same with 200lbs max in the bed whitout any issue and long distance.

I haven't taken the time to install the compressor but i did install a Belltech sway bar which made a noticeable improvement in the handling capabilities of the truck. Interested in how our truck responds and pics of the compressor/switch/gauge install.
