Creaking from front with Belltech struts

It's been almost a year since I lowered the my 2009 F150. One problem I had since day 1, but haven't figured out is the noise from the front. It's a very loud creaking sound at low speed when turning the wheel. It's really loud when going over a bump with the wheel turned (like turning into my driveway).

I'm sure that I'm not the only one. Anybody found out (and fixed) the source of this noise? I'm not sure if the noise is from the struts, or some unexpected result of lowering the front 3".

Did you torque the lower strut bolt to 351 ft lbs? That's the ford torque specs for that bolt.

That's a negatory. Just hit it with the impact.

But now that you mention it, definitely something to see if I can tighten further. My torque wrench maxes out at 250 though.

Thanks. This weekend I'm going to redo the lowering. I'll be swapping the flip kit for drop shackles, then raising the front proportionally. If the problem persist, I'll call Belltech.

Well, you had the right idea. Apparently I didn't get the lower strut bolt on one side very tight. Did some work to it today, and got it as tight as I could with my impact. Set my torque wrench to max (250 ft-lbs) and verified that it's tighter than 250. Creaking and clunking is gone!
