Looking for 1" more drop in the front

Hey guys,

So I just installed the 3.5" DJM Control Arms and Flip-Kit on my 2011 F150 FX4. The rear sits exactly how I wanted it, but I feel like the front needs to go down another 1".

I got a set of the Belltech adjustable struts and set them to a 1" drop, but the collar on them hits the CV's.

Do anyone have any ideas on what other options I can look at, or should I just stick with the 3.5" drop?

I've also included a picture of my truck for fun...

Did you put the Belltechs in at the same time as the lowers, or installed the lowers with stock struts and then added the BTs after wanting another inch. I went through this "exercise" with 2.5" lowers and the BTs set to multiple heights. I ended up scraping the lowers and strictly using the BTs up front to acheive my drop. I also messed with the rear kit multiple times to get the desired height.

Mine is an 07 FX2, so not the same, but I mention it to point out the fact that you may need to experiment; since you have an 2011, the info. may be scarce. You also may be out of luck if you're hitting the CV axle and may have to resort to spindles if that is even an option.

I did exactly as you said, install the CA's with stock struts, then swapped to BT's after wanted another inch.

If my truck was a 2wd, the BT's would have worked fantastic with my control arms, but since I'm 4wd, I ran into clearance issues with the CV's. The only other thing I can think of is setting the BT's to a 1" lift, and using 2" drop coils. But I'm not sure if the BT collar will touch my CV's.

You should have been able to get 2" of drop with those struts. But this is based on an OEM no other lowering parts used. Can you snap a photo?

The struts I have are adjustable to a 3" drop; however, went I paired them WITH my DJM arms, they hit my CV joints when set to a 1" drop. On a 2wd they would be great with the DJM arms, but not for a 4x4.

3" is for the 2wd models. Snap a photo so I can see and come with up with a solution for you

The truck is back together with stock struts. What do you need a picture of? If you let me know, I'll take a picture when I'm home around the 10th.

I wont be able to provide that, since that would require me to reinstall the stock spring on the BT, then install it.

You may have solved your own problem by suggesting the drop coil, but not with the BTs; with the stock struts. Because you are using the LCA's nothing changes in regard to the strut set-up except the attachment point. Maybe you should have went with 2.5s and coils.:o

I found it pain to use two different lowering products.

Good luck and let us know what you do.

I don't think 3.5 lca's and a drop coil will work unless you use a 1" drop coil.

Agreed and I think that will put him where he wants to be.

I don't even think the 4x4s are even designed to be dropped more than 3.5" you might get some binding issues if dropped pass 3.5" something to look into also? Just a thought.

I got a suggestion also you said your truck is a 4x4 correct? Well from the factory your already sitting a couple inches higher anyway the factory 4x4 shock is around 2" taller than a 4x2 shock so therefor when you was dropping the belltech shock 1" you was actually dropping the front an additional 3" understand what im saying? So try the belltech shock at zero drop or pick up a set of stock struts.
