First off a 275-55-20 tire is 31.90" tall here is a list of tire sizes in 24s. So if your wanting a stock height tire to keep your speedo and rearend about the same your best bet is 285-35-24.
295-50-24 is 35.61"
295-45-24 is 34.45"
295-40-24 is 33.29"
295-35-24 is 32.12"
285-35-24 is 31.85" this is the closest to your stock tire

305-50-24 is 36.00"
305-45-24 is 34.80"
305-40-24 is 33.60"
305-35-24 is 32.40"

You might wanna do some research before you start throwing numbers around lol cause a 275-55-24 is 35.90" tall and a 275-50-24 is 34.82" tall. His stock tires are 31.90"

I know. As seen above, a few posts back he said he is sticking with the 20" rims. That is why I recommended a 275/50. Unless he want to do something that remains close to stock, then he would have to get a wider tire to achieve a shorter sidewall. But then it's a factor whether the rim can hold that wider tire.

I thought he decided to stay with 20s?

Edward, get in here and clarify what rims you are talking about now...

You going 24 --> 20? Or staying 20s?

okay.

How wide of a rim?

My initial thought would be a 285/40/24. (more cushion)

but a 285/35/24 would roughly be the same height as stock.
