Wheel offset???
I am looking at getting a new set of wheels and have some question on wheels offset. First off, next month I am going to lower the truck 2 more inches and need to find a wheel that will clear the fender.
1) what is stock offset?
2) I found a set that has an offset of -44. Is that farther out or in?
3)What is the "optimum" offset?

Any thing less than 38 offset is going to be a problem I had my big 6's machined because there was enough clearence to do this with the front brake caliper and ther was also enough mounting surface pad to shave off 8mm and then they studded the mounting holes for strength. I anm letting you know this because alot of the guy out there lump ford offset with the GM trucks. Gm"s trucks are square fender all the way around the ford is tappered in the front that is where the offset becomes an issueMine are 42mm offset you cannot buy them like that unfotunetly so the have to be machined if I had the fender flares they would tuck. As it is they are very close to being even with the fender with no flares. Unless you cut down upper and lower control arem or buy a two pice wheel at abot 750 to 1000 a piece her in cali you'll have to find a cast wheel that has like 35 or 38 mm offset from the factory but make sure there is enough brake caliper clearence and back pad mounting surface to cut down 4mm you should be fine without studding anything over that it needs to be studded. Like I said earlier in my post mine were 34 offset we went 8mm now they are 42. The first set I bough where I think american racing BOSS 330 in ther high line one piece cast section 22x9 32 mm offset the stuck out 1/2 an inch I even tolsd the guy I was going to lower it before I bought the rims. It was a night mare. Do you homework it will save your mental anguish. The place that did me right is Inland Wheel Contact is Louie @909 888 6324 tell him what you want to do and they can make it happen if it is possable they have a machine shop on site for this type of work I think they can ship the stuff to you there out of San Bernardino CA

call ford they should have it for you. I never was able to get that info. Everyone had a different # for the stock offset but most of the answers were in the 40+mm range. Every shop I went to said that for my situation I had 17x7.5 and went to the 22x9 then a 22x9.5 the problem is when they cast this stufff it is exspensive according to the after marker shops so they try to make it kind of a universal fit mostly for the chevey trucks you can get more selection with them than our fords and it sucks remember the offset we are trying to work with started with a 7.5 width and now we are trying to squeeze the 9 or 9.5 width to accomidate the offset for the 7.5. I am telling you it is a pain in the a$$ to get the info on fords I took me 5 months to get to the correct shop to get it done as well as the wheel manufacute AKA Motoring all I can do for yoo is give you the shop #'s Inland wheel wheels and machineing [B]909 888 6324 ask for Louie and aka motoring 909 980 4870 ask for Ryan this is the wheel manufacture
Most will tell you Buy a two piece wheel they can get whatever offset you want. I know you just want the correct offset. Then you will shop on line, I am telling you though the offsets are not correct I shoed three different wheels from different MFG
None of them fit right off the shelf for our application. My experience is you have to find a wheel that has a 34 or 35 offset if you can get one you like in a 38 thats even better but they are hard to come by in our bolt pattern. But make sure that if you get any of these in a cast wheel it has enough mounting surface pad to be machined at least 4mm. Mine where a 34 from the MFG three was clearence from the brake caliper and there was enough material to take 8mm stud the mounting holes and still be safe according to the liability of there work. Thats all I have for you J it sucks no one seems to care or know that much about this subject at least here in california
