I bought a McGaughy's air helper bag kit for my truck, had the same setup as you, and it didn't work.

what was the problem(s)? i believe their kit is designed for a flip kit, which i would think would make the axle closer to the frame than the springs do.

yes but a flip kit goes straight up. Shackles are longer on one side (front to back), so the spring sits at an angle instead of level.

Yes, and closer to the frame. That's where my kit hit when the bags were deflated to minimum operating pressure.

I got the same kit from air lift. It's there slam air helper bag kit I think the part number is 59210. The kit is for a truck with a flip kit installed. I had some problems installing the kit but I fianlly got it in. The upper bracket that bolts to the frame either needs to have spacers put between the bracket and the frame. I welded a plate to give me a flush mounting surface. But make sure you have a really sharp drill bit to get through the frame and go slow with the drill and allow the drill bit to do it's job dont force it or go fast. I will try to get some pics of the installed bags.
