Dropping my 04

Hey All ,

After moving the 1200+ miles from Texas to Ohio and tripping over lowering kit boxes in my garage for the winter I finally got the time to put the Eibach 2/3 kit on my 04 F150 SCAB 4X2 tomorrow !

One thing I wanted to make sure of on the front end ....

Do I take off the tie rod end AND the sway bar link to get the full front end dangle (FFED ) so I can pull the strut assembly out ?

Thanks ... Blaise

Hey Patman,

Thanks for the reply.

Turns out that the Eibach kit went on really easy with only a few small issues. I wound up taking the tie rod ends out of the hub assembly and leaving the sway bar hooked up. The strut came out with no problems at all. I put some before and after photos in my gallery.

I did have to buy the caster, camber adjustment bolts (lower control arm) to get things back into alignment.

I had read that when doing the rear leaf springs the front spring bolt on the drivers side needs to be cut or you have to drop the fuel tank to get that bolt out ... yep .. thats true, but I figured it would be quicker to cut the front spring bolt on the passenger side as well because the muffler was in the way. Those bolts are about 15 dollars each from Ford and the nuts were 11 each ! I ended up getting good high quality coated grade 8 replacements at a local frame and spring shop that does work on commercial trucks. They had the exact sizes and I paid around 20 bucks for both sides.

Next ... I think I will try a sway bar for the rear and a thicker one on the front. The truck corners better but still has a little more lean than I want. Anyone have any reccomendations on which ones to use ?

Congrats on the drop.

Funny, my local TSB got mine back in alignment without any camber bolts.

Texasblaze, BTW, your little camera icon doesn't link to your gallery.
