Question Flip kit vs. Springs and Shackles?

i am researching dropping my truck, probably 2/5. i can either use the Eibach 2/3 kit with springs (AutoAnything.com has them for $313 w/free shipping!) and then use shackles for another 2", or get a kit that has a flip kit.

are there any benefits of one over the other? cost, ride, etc?

Thanks!

Yeah, mine slips all the time if I give it too much gas after putting it in reverse. The whole assembly will slip under the axle lol. It seems like I can never get those suckers tight enough.

I did Eibach rear springs (218 bucks AJUSA) with the Ground Force shackles I already had and it gave me a 4.5" drop on the bottom hole of the shackle, though I am a supercrew with a fiberglass tonneau.

My DJM flip kit has been fine. Yet, I don't drive like I use to with my first new truck. I've had the kit on for 6 months now and no sqeeking, but I do think the hangers in the kit are under-designed for agressive driving.

I have some new ground force shackles still in box if your interested...

It doesn't squeek it just shifts under torque in the opposite direction. It sounds like a clunk when a truck drops into 4x4.

i think that one problem with the flip kits is the design of the brackets that relocate the axle. if you look at the DJM brackets it looks as if there is no way for that axle to rotate once everything is bolted down. i looked at the McGaughy flip kit brackets and other companies flip kit brackets and can see where the rotating of the axle could be a problem. i would let you guys know if it was a problem with mine but i think i am going to wait to install my drop on my new truck. i might be wrong but the brackets between the two look completely different.

all you have to do on a flip kit to keep it from moving is weld the bracket to the axle.
