trouble with shocks
trouble with shocks
I just can't get the shocks off my 99' F-150. I can't get to the tops of them, is me or is there a way, not much room back there, or is the sun getting to my brain? South Florida is dam hot right now. Thanks
i'm sure if you posted this in the suspension forum you'd be able to get some more advice. I wouldn't even be able to point you in a direction myself because the setups are completely different on the 04+.
Right

maybe you should learn how to use the site before criticising others.
your post was completely mechanical, and had no reference to a "street scene" forum. other guys in here post about lowering, rims and tires, and so on. the "OFF ROADING" forum has to do with lifted trucks and all. It's kinda rude for you to come in here, not get what you want, and then make a sarcastic remark like a little kid when you should've done some research on your own instead of being so lazy.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm a little out of it today after baking under the sun washing my truck. It's 110 outside, didn't see that it was for a '99, my bad.

I have not done this my self, but I have read that you need to undo the (6) bed bolts and place a two by four in between the bed and the axle to lift the bed slightly, that will give you the room needed.
It can also be done by using a ratchet combination wrench.
Hope it helps!!!

So what did you find out?? How did you do it??
How about a quick summery??
I’m having my shocks replaced by the body shop; they are removing the bed, to straighten out the frame.
I was involved in a five car pile up, with me being the third, or right smack dead center..
Anyway let us (me) know how to do it, or how you did it….
Thanks!!!

Quote from the site!!!
“In theory, shock replacement is fairly straightforward: unfasten the old shock at top and at bottom, remove, and reverse the steps to install the new shock. In practice, a number of factors can make this a little more difficult. The primary determinant in how easy this project is, is how much room you have to work. For the most part, my F-150 had ample room, and the job wasn't too tough.”
So what’s the beef???
Thanks, for the insight!
