need help lowering

i have an 07 lariat 6.5 bed. after all the research i have decided on the ground force 2/4 drop. i want make sure that i still have a decent ride. i dont tow anything more than a bike trailor which has no more than about 500lbs tongue weight at the most. my biggest concers is that i have 22's 305/40s and wondering will a 2 to 4 drop cause any rubbing. it looks like i can get away with it i just want to be sure because getting rid of my rims isnt an option and ill i want to do is lower it and get aligned. the most important is has anyone done a 2/4 drop and had any vibrations out of the driveshaft and if so how did they fix it. everyone keeps telling me that a 4 inch drop in the back will make the truck start shaiking. the part number for the groundforce is 9944. i was thinking that i would look good on a 6.5 bed. or if it wont work please let me know because ride quality is important and everyone states the djm just isnt what its cracked up to be. thanks for any help and cant wait to get rid of the terrible whell gap.

I have the 9944 Ground force kit on my screw with a 5.5' bed and I love it. I also am running 305/40/22's, the only issue that I have is that when I am backng up I get just little bit of tire rub I think it is on the lower control arm when I am at full turn. Other than that I have no issue's. I dont have pictures yet of my new wheels and tires in my gallery just my old rims which were 20's. I also tow a 6000lb boat with this drop kit on and the rear does not bottom out at all. I have had no drive shaft vibration issues with this kit, they provide a new carrier mount that relocates the carrier bearing closer to the top of the frame and they include a shim to raise the tail shaft up. The one thing that would make this install go smoother is to go to ford and buy 1 new leaf spring bolt for the driver side front by the gas tank. Other wise you nearly have to drop the gas tank to get the old bolt out, it will be easyer to just cut the head off the bolt and pull it out then replace it with the new one bought at the dealer. I installed my kit and it took about 8 hrs(including dropping the gas tank) it really is a clean install. Holler if you have any ?'s

I actually have the carrier bearing spacer with all the nuts/bolts. If you're kit is missing anything, I'd be happy to send the parts off to you.. Just the parts associated with the carrier bearing. I'd like to get rid of them to somebody who needs them.

I might want that spacer from you, because I may 4-link my rear and put these springs on my wifes truck which will need the spacer.

The ride quality will be a lot like a mustang or corvette in harshness due to the lower profile tires. I have added a Hellwig rear swaybar and custom traction bars which really stiffened up the rear of my truck but it is still very much enjoyable.

Shoot me your address. I'll get the parts in the mail.

I've just left the bag of stuff under my seat in my truck... for over a year now. I have no need for them.

EDIT: I'll send you the parts in exchange for the front traction bar mounts. LOL J/k

Talking

I got the same kit on my truck with 22" rims with 305/40/22 tires. I have had on the truck for over 9 months. No problems with vibrating or shaking. Just remember to get your truck aligned asap. It took my boy & me bout 7 hours. He installs lowering kits professionally. I was amazed how easy it was with the proper tools. He only charged me $200 since I helped.

Let us know what 4-link you go with, and how you like it. I have considered doing that someday

Your rub is not on the control arm but your inner fender. Your 305 tire is 12" wide.

Harshness in ride quality(extra firm) is from the Bilsteins (performance based) and not the lower profile tire.

When I first did the lowering kit, I was running 265/60/18. When I went to a 295/45/18, the ride quality diminished. It was rougher... not alot but a little. The increased PSI made the ride a little rougher.

Lowering the truck made it a little rougher for sure. But I still love it.

I'll be getting some new rear shocks soon, so that will help.

i knew sooner or later drew would chime in and thanks a lot. was a little nervous about the harsh ride but i'm ordering the kit monday from autoanything for 1249. madskillz what part of va are you in? im in newport news myself by ft eustis. im looking at getting the street scene mirrors also for the truck. old lady gave me a blank check basically to get everything that i want for my truck since im back and forth to iraq. she told her friends how much can ge possibly spend. she just doesnt know because i have spend about 3800 in the last few days and still havent made it to troyer for the supercharger yet. i know this is oof topic but does anyone have a rollpan on their truck. i have the back up sensing system and dont want to loose the feature. specially with the truck lowered dont want to be hitting curbs when im backing up and tearing up the new exhaust system thanks to all that applied. im gong to be doing the lowering by myself so i guess that it will take me about 2 days if you and your friend did it in 7 hours. oh well i know that when im done ill be proud lol

I'm on the Eastern Shore. Accomack County to be precise. It is the little part of Virginia attached to Maryland. I ordered my Ground Force kit on ebay. I think I paid about $500 without shocks. I order shocks through autoanything for $120. Just love the looks I get from everybody here. Most of the fullsize trucks are lifted.

When I first put the 9944 kit on I had 285/50/20 Tires and the ride was firm and smooth. It took all of the factory bounce out of the front when going over small dips on the interstate. Then when I started adding the rear sway bar and the rear traction bars it made the ride I little more harsh. When I went to the 305/40/22's I noticed a difference.

A 285/50/20 has a side wall height of 6.7". A 305/40/22 has a side wall height of 4.8". A 1.9" difference will deffinatly make for a harsher ride in my application.

I think that with your application it will be more like a Mustang GT ride quality. I promise you wont be disappointed.
