UPDATE: I had a little paint work done a couple of days ago. I figured I'd use up some of the extra paint I had from a repair a year ago. We sprayed the valance and the top bumper pad to match the rest of the truck. I've been wanting to do it and haven't had the free time till this week. Here it is finally painted!

Thanks man! I've just been putting it off and putting it off and I realized I was just being lazy. I've had the darn paint for over a year is what's so bad!

Oh yeah, thanks for letting me know about that pearl deal. That paint matching deal has been on my mind for sometime about it also. I've always been happy with the original color of the truck and the pics of yours may end up making me stay with the stock color!

well I thought about it some more and maybe if you wanted to pay a little extra, have the shop mix some extra paint and keep it in your garage for future repairs...that way matching it shouldn't be a problem.

That's one way to do. Maybe have them mix a pint or more and then repairs shouldn't be too bad...hmmm, decisions decisions.

I agree, problem is it's been on there too long to remove it now. I'll have to wait till it hit's the paint booth sometime early next year. It's been a thought I've thrown around for about 4 years and should have acted back then.

you can't just peel it, then polish it?

I removed mine on my '02 and you couldn't tell it was ever there...I'd say go for it if you want it removed.

The thing about it is I'm afraid after being on the truck for 7 years now the paint underneath them will be darker then the exposed paint. Not to mention they no longer peel, they sorta just crumble...lol.

I may give it a go tomorrow with the buffing wheel and see if they come off.

Here's the deal on that bumper pad. I ordered a smooth pad about 7 months ago. I was waiting to get it painted before I installed it. I looked at it once and it looked ok, you know no damage or anything. Well after the damn thing gets sprayed and is ready to pop on the truck I realized something is wrong. It's an aftermarket deal so I'm not sure what's the deal with it, but it fits like t-total sh*t! We ended up taking it back off and using the factory one for now because I didn't feel like waiting for another to be ordered because the two local dealerships near me didn't have any smooth bumper pads in stock! I'm cool with it for now. I figure when I spray the SS mirrors and the bed caps I'll install a smooth one.

Update: I did indeed remove the pin stripe today. A neighbor of mine that's fix'n up an 04 Cheby let me use a bad *** little tool for removing gummy adhesive and striping off cars. It turned out better then I thought it would have. I still need to buff it with the high speed buffer later this morning, but for now it looks good.

Darth Bama, I'm glad you posted pics of your truck, you made my decision to PTM my bumpers VS leaving the chrome center

it won't flow all with my build or end goal, I can't wait to see what yours is like in a few months...
