I would like to settle an argument between two friends of mine. One has a 2003 7.3 liter Powerstroke turbo diesel in an F-350 extended cab with a six foot bed and automatic transmission. His brother has a 1993 F-150 Flareside with a 302 and 5 speed manual transmission. Both trucks are stock.

My question is this: Which truck would win in the quarter mile?

I have driven both trucks and I think the F-350 is obviously way more powerful both in bottom and top end. However, the F-150 owner seems to think his truck is a lot faster for some reason. I was unable to find performance specs other than just horsepower and torque ratings. Any help would be appreciated as I would like to end this dispute.

I can beat a 302 with my 281. My bet is the F350, but I've never raced a 7.3L F350

 

A half ton V8 will beat a 1 ton diesel hands down, especially the old 7.3 (that is, if the person in the f150 knows how to run through the gears). Nuff said.
